I thought I'd post this. A little news about Alexis.

Alexis Bledel at ShoWest 2008

And uhm, don't forget to watch Jezebel tonight.

Anita thanks for the Alexis update.

I'll *cough* ROJJ just to see how bad it is, same reason I watched Viva Laughlin

Maybe it will give us a better application of S6

I would have watched it anyway I think, but the reviews are so bad that I definitely have to see it now.

Oh yeah, I heard Viva was terrible.

I watch Jezebel James and did not like it very much. I'm not sure if it was the show itself or Parker Posey. I found her very annoying.

Like Anita said I'll check ROJJ out just to mock it, I must be like Lorelai in that way

I've watched the first 2 eps of ASP's new show.. and I'm just not liking it too much. It's too over the top (especially the performances of the 2 leads, them in particular actually) and I'm not liking Scott Cohen in it either...
The only good part was seeing 'Gypsy' in the pilot..

Omg thank you, I thought I know that woman but I couldn't figure out who she was. I just finished watching and I was surprised that I didn't hate it. It's not a hit but I found it watchable. My problem is the concept. I don't see that show to be a comedy show entirely, it would be better as a dramady without these stupid laughs. And I agree these two ladies especially Parker Posey are annoying from time to time.

Overall it's interesting to see that Amy apparently didn't move on from Gilmore Girls. Gypsy and Scott Cohen in the eps and Parker Posey was like Lauren Graham on drugs or something like that. Besides the mom reminded me of Emily somehow, not telling her friends that her daughter never got married.

I have to agree with you 100%!!!!

Seriously... just, it's not really good, I saw one episode, and decided a second one would be way to much for my nerves
and so much screamed GG for me. even that chick army jacket but I guess ASP made herself a punishment for leaving GG

I kind of agree with you guys. I like the story, but the execution is terrible. PP is annoying (though LA is not that bad IMO) and the laughtracks are totally stupid and unnecessary. The second episode was better, so I will continue watching it next week.

BTW it's not only Scott Cohen and 'Gypsy' who are familiar from GG, there's also the little girl at Sarah's workplace who played the girl whom Emily played cards with in The Real Paul Anka.

The ratings are awful...

Definitely.. it's not sitcom material.. It's more dramedy.. It could have had the potential of being something like Gilmore Girls. A show that could do comedy and drama and mix that well.. But the laugh track they put in there is just annoying... It ruins a part of the show for me..

I must admit that the concept behind the show, the entire idea, is a good idea.. It's just not executed well.

and no problem for pointing out Gypsy I believe her name is Rose Abdoo right?

She was really bouncy..
and yes there are definitely Gilmore Girls things in this sitcom.. ASP is still a fan of the fast talking as well... or the cultural references that keep popping up..

The 2nd ep was actually slightly better IMO, but that was mostly because of the parents scenes in that ep.. I actually think that the parents were casted the best in this entire show.

Lauren Ambrose did do a good job.. Though that thought only came to mind when I watched the 2nd ep.. I think Lauren Ambrose did a better job in that episode.. in the pilot not that much.

She came off as familiair to me.. that's why! Thnx for pointing that out!

Those are terrible numbers.. but then again FOX already immediately put it on Friday night, which is from what I heard their death move or something like that.. so I don't think it bodes well.
Even Gilmore Girls had higher numbers then that... and that was on a smaller network

I don't think we'll have to wait and see the baby be born on ROJJ

I did like the 2nd ep more but a lot of the jokes and cast seemed to be re-cycled.

Now if the guy in the diner suddenly starts wearing flannel and a blue cap I'm out!

OMG I didn't know.

Maybe a new game, "Spot the Gilmore cast member" LOL

So are those ratings any good?

Great idea. When I watched the credits, I noticed that Grant Lee Philips (aka "The Troubadour" wrote the score (music) for the episode.

I'm note sure that I'm a fan of the new show. The dialogue has ASP written all over it and the concept behind the show has a lot of potential, but the cast is just not right (particularly Parker Posey).

I think the magic of GG was 40% fab writing, 40% Lauren Graham, and 20% the rest of the cast. Without a leading lady equal to Lauren, the show was pretty much doomed to fail. Parker Posey has the high energy and snappy dialogue down, but she's too shrill and has the weirdest expressions on her face (like she's tasting a lemon and can't make eye contact). She just doesn't have the warmth and charm of Lauren. The actress playing Coco is alright, but a little whiney. They didn't seem to have a lot of chemistry between them either. Maybe it will take a few episodes for the cast to meld together, and it will get better, but it better happen soon. Critics have not been kind to the show, from what I've read so far, and a network has cancelled a show after only a couple of episodes before. Maybe some more cameos from former GG cast members would help....
