After reading this I'm very glad there was no Season 8 after all.
Ending the joke that was the Rory/Logan relationship (which should haven been over way sooner) and having Rory single at the end was one of the few things TPTB did right in Season 7, imo.

and i love the heart attack storyline its so new and refreshing

Geez, totally forgot about them. What about - right, that's perfect: Paris is doing her term as an assistant director and falls in love with the head of physician who happens to be her prof at Harvard too. It's her big, big love, but while he transfers one of Zach's kidneys to Lane (she was very ill, actually collapsed after Chris interrupted the wedding and was rushed to the hospital, without the kidney she'd only have to live 20 more hours) he has a heart attack and dies. Lane and Zach both survive as Paris takes over the operation, finishing the transfer with tears in her eyes. Actually she and Doyle reconcile at April's funeral as well. (I don't know yet why they are there, maybe Paris tried to save her life, too, but without success)

Well I am really sad that there was no S8 after reading that, and I hate the writers for ending R/L taking a big gamble. I am glad MC agrees, and its conforting to know that was not the final plan for R/L. Even though could have still had R/L together and had a S8.

Sorry but that is total bull in my eyes. Lauren and Alexis had contracts for 7 years and if they didn't come to an agreement at one point they could have dealt with it as a series finale period. The whole way towards the last episode was changed and tweaked and what not so it would be a season finale and nothing more. There was nothing they could have done differently in the last episode because they didn't move a finger in the episodes leading up to the end.
They wrapped up Rory's storyline and that was it since they knew they would get a light Rory season but everything else - they simply didn't care or just thought ah well it has to do.
They knew it could be the end so why not plan it like that. They can't tell me they were not creative enough to come up with something if they had gotten another season. Oh scratch that we are talking about GG here. The usual "we get the meant to be couple together in the last 5 minutes of the show" was more than they could handle

And sorry but why is it such a surprise Matt would have been back for season 8 ? As far as I remember he was in Austria when he got the phone call the next season was canceled so I for my part assumed he would have been back anyway And we had the talk about his new show and that he can only be in it if GG got canceled.
