i'm not surprised that AB can't make up her mind about an 8th season, i thought she said that she wanted this year to be her last, cause she wanted to try different things. if i were in her shoes, i don't think i'd have a problem going one more year. AB has a hreat deal, she's on a very popular t.v. show plus i'm sure she's getting paid well, i wouldn't go biting the hand that feeds me.

Linking to it is fine since you provided a clear warning and didn't say or hint at what the spoilers are.

This is probably a better topic for the Alexis thread but I wouldn't consider Alexis biting the hand the feeds her if she doesn't want to go another year. I'm sure it's a difficult decision for her. The show gave her a start and the celebrity she now has, but she's given it and The WB/CW years of her professional life. IMO, there is no obligation on either side. It's her life/career and if she wants to move on, she should. If GG fans don't like that, oh well. They'll either support her in new projects or not.

I don't want to see another year anyway but if there is, I definitely don't want it to be without Alexis. Lorelai and Rory ARE the show.

I don't think Alexis is biting the hand that feeds her. She's committed the last seven years of her life to the show. She's said before that she wants to do other things. Even recently Lauren has said she's not sure about returning for another year, if given the opportunity. That might have changed, but it's not that unusual for someone to be ready to move on after seven years of playing the same role.

In news that may be related to any proposed "plan b" or GG spinoff as well as future developments in any 8th season... according to IMDB the actress who plays April (Vanessa Marano) is attached to an ABC pilot called Miss/Guided.

Futoncritic's entry on it.

the futon critic - the web's best primetime television resource

Course worth pointing out most pilots aren't picked up and since I haven't seen a press release mentioning her it's possible it's just as a guest starring role in the pilot with no guarantee of her coming back if it's picked up. Or even misinformation provided to imdb.

Yeh Alexis does not want to do another season at all, she isn't enjoying it anymore. It's sad because it's a passion of so many people's but to her it's "just a job".

Well I posted some news over at Veronica Mars with a link, and the link was deleted by the mods because apparently they're not allowed here.

This just in from E!'s Kristen Online:

Ruh-roh.

I've just chatted with inside sources connected to our beloved Gilmore Girls, and I gotta tell you, I'm a little concerned about what's happening over in Stars Hollow. 'Cause, well, the prospects of an eighth season are looking a wee bit grim.

You may have heard TV Guide's report that Alexis Bledel (Rory) does not want to continue Gilmore Girls and that the CW is moving forward with the idea of doing the show without her. Well, according to my sources—who are highly placed within the Gilmore family—the plan of a Roryless eighth season has been firmly rejected for one very good reason: Lauren Graham is sticking by her onscreen daughter (you gotta love that) and has made it clear that she will not continue the show without Alexis on board.

So...will we get another season? Lauren and Alexis are making the decision as a team. If they both decide to partake in an eighth season, we'll get another year of Gilmore bliss. If not (and it kills me to even think it!), this will be the final year of the show we so adore.

Still, don't start saying your goodbyes just yet. The show's rep at the CW insists the report that Alexis does not want to continue with the show is "really just a rumor...I've never heard that from Alexis' people or any reliable source close to the production."

Plus, there's another reason to hold out hope: I'm also told CW president Dawn Ostroff isn't ready to let Lorelai and Rory go—and is prepared to do "whatever it takes" to turn the show around creatively and keep it around another year.

So, maybe it'll work out. While I feel confident in my sources—they have never once steered me wrong before—I hope that in this case they're wrong.

And, well, let's be honest. Money talks! And if it talks in a very rapid, witty and dramatic fashion, our Gilmore goddesses just might stick around.

So...what say ye? Should Gilmore go another year? Are you happy to hear Lauren is sticking by Alexis? Weigh in below.

Thanks for the article, it all makes sense and they are right money talks, she's doing a job and if Alexis gets paid more to stay than Alexis will probably stay.

I'm hoping that the they work something out so if this is the last year it's wrapped up nicely or is we have S8 then then have a SL to go on with for 22 more eps.

Scout Taylor-Compton has been cast in the new Halloween movie.

Quote:
Rob Zombie has cast actress/singer Scout Taylor-Compton (An American Crime, Sleepover) as Laurie Strode in his new take on Halloween at Dimension Films. Strode was originally played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the "Halloween" films.

Also starring in the August 31 release are Malcolm McDowell, Daeg Faerch, Tyler Mane, Sheri Moon Zombie, Pat Skipper, Dee Wallace Stone, William Forsythe, Ken Foree, Lew Temple, Danny Trejo, Hanna Hall, Danielle Harris, Adrienne Barbeau, Clint Howard, Courtney Gains, Daryl Sabara, Heather Bowen, Brad Dourif, Udo Kier and Kristina Klebe.

Halloween is currently shooting in Los Angeles.

This might not be new news but I don't remember seeing is mentioned.

Yesterday I was checking Amazon to see if any of my favorite authors had new books coming out soon (because the 400+ I own but have yet to read are not enough) and I found out that one of them has this coming out in May.

Coffee at Luke's: An Unauthorized Gilmore Girls Gabfest by Jennifer Crusie

Quote:
The quirky world of Stars Hollow and the incredible relationship of the Gilmore Girls -- mother Lorelai and daughter Rory are best friends -- continues to engage viewers after seven seasons, with its lightning-fast dialogue, dry wit, and unusual take on family relations. In this satirical yet sensitive collection of essays, leading writers weigh in on how this unique show has successfully broken the teenage-sitcom mold and gained viewers of all ages. Addressing questions such as What are the risks of having your mother be your best friend? How is Gilmore Girls anti-family, at least in the traditional sense? and What's a male viewer to do when he finds both mother and daughter attractive? this anthology also looks at how the characters are shaped by the pop culture they consume and how prevalent a feeling of class consciousness is within the series.

A small update on the situation, once again from TV Guide's "Ausiello Report":

Quote:
How much clout does Lauren Graham have over at Gilmore Girls these days? You'll find out in the opening minutes of tomorrow night's episode, when the Emmy-shunned actress receives a perk that has long eluded her: a producing credit.

Warner Bros. and the CW declined comment, but one of my deeply imbedded Stars Hollow moles confirms that Graham will be listed as a producer beginning with Tuesday's episode. My spy says the promotion was most likely a precursor to formal contract-extension talks with Graham. (Her deal with the show ends this season.) "It's a step in the right direction," says my source.

In an interview last June, Graham made no secret of her desire to see her Gilmore role expand. "I would like to be a producer on the show, but that's not anything [Warner Bros.] is gonna let me do," she said at the time. "I think, at this point, any request [might lead to a] 'Well, if you want something then we want an eighth season' kind of thing."

In that same Q&A, Graham also said she'd "never" do the show without TV daughter Alexis Bledel by her side. But what if Bledel were to drop in during, oh, say, November, February and May? As I reported in Ask Ausiello last week, that's one of several life-sustaining Gilmore scenarios the network and studio are said to be throwing around should Bledel nix a full-time commitment.

The wild card in all this? Scott Paterson, whose deal also expires in May and is rumored to be angling for a hefty raise. Suddenly, last year's ill-fated Team Palladino negotiations are looking like a walk in the park with Paul Anka.

Maybe if they were just going to do the thing where Rory only comes back during November, February, and May, he would, in fact, be the wild card. You couldn't have a show with just Lorelai if both Alexis and Scott dropped out.

Why not, she drinks coffee and talks really fast to her cats for 44 minutes

Tanja I think Scott has a 1 year deal with an option for S8.
