I just love this little exchange:

ASP: Is one of them possessed?
Ausiello: Lorelai and Christopher are married.

That, for me, says it all

Category Confusion: TV SAG Awards

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series

Considering there aren't that many strong female roles in comedy this year -- or even that many comedies -- it's surprising that this category is turning into one of the most competitive.

"The new breakout character and star of the new season is Ugly Betty, played by America Ferrera," Roush says. "Vanessa Williams is also possible. She's very Cruella as the villainous magazine editor [in Ugly Betty].

"Desperate Housewives went into a slump," Roush continues. "But it's coming back. In particular, Marcia Cross is never less than fascinating as Bree. Even when the show is not great, she's always great. Felicity Huffman got a sensational episode this year when there was a hostage crisis in the supermarket. It was her best work since the first season." Richmond thinks Cross will be the only nominee from the show because the series is competing in the comedy category and Huffman's work was essentially dramatic.

"I would love to see Tina Fey of 30 Rock break in there," Amatangelo says. "There's very few comedies that are really great this year. This show is not great yet, but it's getting better every week. There aren't that many opportunities for women in comedy. She has one of the few great roles."

Winning other awards or being snubbed by them may play a role. Julia Louis-Dreyfus broke the Seinfeld curse and won an Emmy for The New Adventures of Old Christine. Mary-Louise Parker was shut out of the Emmys this year for her drug-dealing soccer mom on Weeds, though Elizabeth Perkins got a supporting nomination for the same show. Three-time SAG winner and six-time nominee Megan Mullally might get a farewell nod for the last season of Will & Grace.

Richmond would like to see Jane Kaczmarek nominated for her work as the manic mom on the last season of Malcolm in the Middle. "It's criminal she's never been recognized," he says. Another long shot is Jenna Fischer, the receptionist on The Office. "She does more with her eyes than most actresses do with dialogue," Richmond says. Bianco also cites Jaime Pressly of My Name Is Earl. Another perennial SAG bridesmaid is Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls, an hour-long dramedy that may confuse voters with its mix of elements.

Greppi goes for unlikely contender Conchata Ferrell, the no-nonsense housekeeper of Two and a Half Men. "I will consider no others," Greppi states. "She's taken a character that could have been two-dimensional and fleshed her out. She's the only one that must be nominated as far as I'm concerned."

I'm not really sure what this means though, though I assume it's good when it's in the top 10!

Hi Karen

I think it's when people use TIVO and other recorders to watch shows at other times, maybe it's a good guide to networks that there show needs to move to watch it "live"? JMO

It's weird 'cause S60 and Heroes are on back to back but way different ratings in their first season, S60 may not make it to season 2.

I knew that, so I was utterly confused when I saw a high rated show like Heroes in the same row as S60 and GG since the ratings for those shows are lower.
But thnx for explaining.. big help!
Like you said, it could tell the network to move the show, but I don't see that happening anytime soon..

A few mentions in TVGal’s Favorite Quotes from 2006:

"That's me. I'm fast. I'm the perfect storm of caffeine and genetics." Lorelai on "Gilmore Girls."

"Gilmore, do you see any of my students falling in love with me? No! And you know why? Because you don't fall in love with people that make you want to crap your pants." Paris to Rory on "Gilmore Girls."

"Mothers and daughters. They speak so fast, but they speak so true." Turk about "Gilmore Girls" on "Scrubs."

Ouch! Lost has had a bid drop, GG not so bad and VM hardly anything.

It's from the Dec 29 issue of EW.

5. Gilmore Girls: Yes, I know there are those who complain that this season isn't as good as past seasons, but the fact that the show has such devoted fans (who have complained before, by the way) is a clear sign that these are some of the best characters in TV history.

and EW recognised it Craig I'm glad that GG got 2 mentionings in that list! One from season 6 and 7..

Does anyone know when the CW (All Star?) event will take place? I know that it's in January, most likely early, but is there a date for that yet?
