I loved the revival - didn't care for "Summer" at all, and the musical portion was painful and a complete waste of time. Also not sure what the point of "Tristan" being there was.
I would have liked to see Rory changed a bit more than she was, but I still really enjoyed it. The scene of her walking through the Gilmores' house and the flashback to them having family dinner KILLED ME. __________________

Hearing/seeing lots of "Rory is really entitled!" and "Lorelai is hold on to really old baggage!"
Even I had a "god, the Life and Death trust fund jerks are annoying, but make for good scenery around them/costume porn." And, now I'm thinking, "Did any of us actually watch the show?" Because that was, for seven seasons, basically the show. I might as well have been mad Luke wore a hat or Miss Patty said something sexual. Rory was always super entitled and upset not to be the best and most loved in a room. That said, the job end of her dilemma did strike home with me, since my contract is up at the end of this school term and I did turn down a newspaper editing job that I shouldn't have, getting a little too big for my britches. (Now, I just need grandma to lend me a big house...) I get her frustration, in theory, at least, but people keep offering her fantastic opportunities and she just blows them off or treats them like they're beneath her. Yes, with the newspaper, she has to keep the poem, keep tradition, and her staff is small, old, and out of touch, but at the same time, she has all those pages to fill. She can literally write anything you wants in there as long as she puts the poem above the fold. People work their whole lives for an opportunity like that. Do something! |
