One day, I'll post some huge long rant on the reasons Why Luke and Lorelai should be together VS. Why they still aren't. It'll be big. It'll be huge. It'll never happen.

On what they do for each other

I was taking a look at all the episodes and what they've done for each other. Lorelai has done things for him, but just as a normal friend, not like when Luke built her a chuppah. I'd like to see her do something for him that was totally altruistic, without wanting her to gain him for her by her doing that.

Now what I observed was that Luke always did something manual for her, like fixing things, driving her somewhere... or just let's say logistic things: letting her sleep at his place, help when Rory moved, etc. He actually never offered any sentimental help. Luke's a guy.
Lorelai always helped him in other ways, like trying to give him advice on Jess, Rachel and even Nicole (before they got married). Or scheduling 4 Thanksgiving dinners on a row, helping out in the diner when his uncle died, etc. Except for this last thing, it may seem that those favors weren't altruistic: Lorelai likes knowing about Luke's life and having something to say in it, she likes painting, she likes shopping (Rachel's gift)... and when she gives advice to Luke about relationships, it may not work out, but it's not because of her. She just tries to help Luke with that sentimental side he's not so used to. Lorelai's a woman.

Their relationship is a normal one, with normal friendly chats in the diner or at home, until Nicole comes back. Then it's all upside down. When Nicole came back, Lorelai was mad at him for not telling her (she told him about Max and still he was mad!!!). Now they moved in together and of course she's mad... So I hope the writers do know when this arch is ending, it has to lead to something.</STRONG>
I definitely agree. She needs to be able to without thought do something for him for no other reason than he needs it.

And about the leading somewhere...I can't *stress* how much this storyline has got to be going somewhere. They cannot drop it...they cannot say, 'let's *just* be friends'.

None of these would satisfy. We all know that there is definitely something *more* to this unofficial couple.

And what we JJ's have so observantly identified it it as is...well,

altruistic?

Emily, I'd love to read your rant!!! I have faith in you too.

You know what Lorelai should do now? She should make Luke a homewarming present. Just accept that he moved, even if he really didn't. Just accept that it is as he says and try to be happy for him. Show him that he's her friend whatever he goes through. I thought about the "perfect" homewarming present and came up with an idea. Lorelai would drive to Litchfield and collect visit cards or just write down numbers from important places, like the best take-out or the next hardware store. But she would actually drive there. And she'll put it all in a phone book with numbers from Stars Hollow (just so he doesn't "forget them")"and here's Kirk's number, if you ever need someone to do something for a little money... and here's my number, just if you need... anything."

Yeah, that would be cute. Nicole would just love it if Lorelai drove over to her place to give Luke a housewarming present. I'd pay to see the look on her face!

Very deep in here. I think there are strong feelings on both sides. Major attraction, a little lust, and a huge curiosity about each other.

I think if they ever commited to giving it a try, the love thing would develop quickly. ALl the basic ingredients are already there.....

It's probably not the time right now, but I hope the writers soon 'make' it the time. They don't have to be married or anything.....just decide to give 'it' a chance.....whatever 'it' is.

I would love to see these two awkwardly try to date. They already know each other so well in one sense, but there's a whole other level they have yet to discover. That's what I'm waiting for.

I think (wishful thinking heer) the writers are finally heading that way. Hope the other outside interests are over. They both should realize they need to deal with this little 'thing' they have in one way or another.

NUTTERS ~~ that is a devilish plan! That would totally confuse Luke. Lorelai just sitting back and letting things progress on their own. And then he finds out about Jason.....interesting. Might get him moving!

I love reading everyones little(and big) posts! I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said so I won't say anything at all.

Yay new thread! but... I'm going off topic but for a good reason! lol I need as many opinions as possible so I make the right desision!

We(My dad and I) have to move . And were moving into an apartment with my dad's girlfriend who has a dog and in the apartment you can only have one dog and one cat. So I have to get ride of 3 of my babies(my dog and 2 cats)! And it really sucks a lot becasue I've had all of them for such a long time and the dog has medical problems and wasn't really socalized right(oopps) and he's going to be hard to find a home for and we had had him since he was way too young to be w/o his mother(people sold him to us when he ws only 1-2 weeks old) so we basicaly raised him! so I don't know how he's going to adapt to living with someone else or if it's possible to correct his social problems.
I will be able to keep one of my cat's but I love them all equally so...I think I should keep the one that will be the hardest to find a home for because she's older but she is just the sweetest cat in the world but the other dog really does not get along with her or one of the other cats. The one cat she does get along with is the male cat but he is sooo preety(he looks like a siamease but with long hair and blue eyes) and has a great 'personality' he would be able to find a home real easy. The other cat is kinda young(around 5) and is a bit hand shy(we got her from the pound) but because shes younger she might be easier to find a home for (btw were not puting any of them in the pound were going to try and find people...). Anyone have a suggestion on which I should keep and how to get my dog over his social issues?

Thank you for...uh reading? lol

I wonder how Nicole feels about Luke. Is she in love with him or does she want to be married for other reasons? If she's in love with him, doesn't she have something to say about the fact that he's moved in with her but he's not really living there? Luke might think he does but I think Nicole would notice that he doesn't. If Mr. Jennarose always went somewhere else at night, I would have a problem with that.

Alissa, I'm sorry you have to give up your pets. That must be so hard. I don't know much about dogs so I don't have any advice for you.

Jenna, WORD!

If Kevin did that, I'd have a problem with it too. That's exactly what I'm wondering about Nicole. Wouldn't she have a problem with Luke not 'living' with her after they bought a townhouse. Lorelai was right about him being a rude guest.

Though Luke has been 'moved' for the past three weeks, so either Nicole is a real pushover and doesn't want to say anything that may upset Luke. Or she doesn't care. I'm just wondering what is going through her mind in this whole marriage thing. Does she really love Luke? My first initial thought when Nicole came back to make things work was that she was embarrassed about the divorce somehow and didn't want to have a 'divorce' under her belt so she decided to ask Luke if they can work on things.

If Nicole is just letting things slide for now, I see a really big fight coming on in the future when Nicole is at her wits ends over this.

I think Luke really does care for Nicole. He just isn't ready to fully commit to her. That, and he doesn't want to let go of his feelings for Lorelai. And Nicole will never be happy with Luke being friends with Lorelai.. she already sees Lorelai as the 'other woman'.

Alissa, sorry you have to give your dog and cat away. I hope you find a really good home for them.

I think its a safe bet to say that Luke didn't go to Nicole's on the night they broke the bells. So that made three nights in a row he didn't go to her place. Wonder what he said when she asked about what we did that night?

"Oh, Lorelai and I sneaked into the church and broke the stupid bells, after I saw her at the diner, and I shoveled her walk."

Wake up Nicole.....

Hope she likes living in Litchfield. I think she's going to be there all alone!!

There's a fine line between love and hate, and the same goes for anger and passion. That's the line between Luke and Lorelai right now. All the fighting is the anger taking the place of the much wanted passion.

Someday there is going to be an explosion. When you have TNT and fire in close proximity...eventually, they are going to ignite!

Hey kids, glad to see that this ep has sparked so much discussion. I wrote a short fic about what I thought happened between L/L in the church after Rev. Skinner found them. Some of the fic was inspired by the stuff that you have been saying, so don't sue me for co-opting Let me know what you think!

Yeah, Luke definately didn't go to Litchfield that night. He's kept it up for three weeks! He has to be running out of excuses, at least without looking like some idiot! I'm sure Nicole probably called him that night and he wasn't there.. I wonder what his excuse was?

And his excuse on not staying over with Nicole 'cause she had a bit of a sore throat.. so that means everytime your wife is a bit under the weather, you bail? Oh, yeah, that'll go over real good! If you're wife isn't feeling good... stay there and take care of her! I doubt his going home had anything to do with Nicole having a sore throat. And the early delivery? It's called waking up early and commuting.. Nicole isn't going to want to keep sleeping alone. I wonder what his excuse will be the next day and weeks after that!

In some ways I just can't believe Luke is going into denial about this, even he has to see the craziness in what he's doing. Or at least Nicole could grow a pair and tell him straight up to stay at home with her instead of running to Stars Hollow every night!

gluglug, I read your fic this morning. I like it!

Does Nicole work in Litchfield? I looked up Litchfield on Maquest. Unless Litchfield is a halfway point between their jobs, it seems like it would make more sense for them to live in Stars Hollow. Luke probably gets a lot of early deliveries and he has to open the diner early too. It took me two hours to get to work on Monday when it was icy (normal time is 35-40 minutes) and we don't get nearly as much snow here as they do in Connecticut.

I think you're right about Nicole not saying anything for now Kitty. I can see someone letting it go for a few days in an already rocky relationship, but I hope if it goes on any longer, we get to see her confront him about not living with her.

I'm looking forward to reading your fic gluglug.
