Dan originally wrote the finale to be a double wedding with these two and Pat and David, but Dan decided that Alexis had grown up to be her own woman and decided she needed to go to New York on her own.

And Ted seemed really passionate about the project he was doing in the Galapgos.

I liked these two together, especially the second time they got together when Alexis had grown up a bit, but I definitely think it was the right choice for Alexis to not stay in the Creek. It would have undermined her character and her development to just be one of those women in TV, who give up everything they want for a guy. I like to think that the world will throw them together again, to be together for good
