| I found the following on the TV guide website. Stephen King: Twilight Author "Can't Write Worth a Darn" - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com Stephen King: Twilight Author "Can't Write Worth a Darn" Feb 5, 2009 10:58 AM ET by Adam Bryant ![]() Stephen King isn't in the the target audience for Twilight, but he knows his vampires — and he says the author of the teen serial "can't write worth a darn." Promoting his new book, Stephen King Goes to the Movies, the prolific best-selling horror novelist said in an interview with USA Weekend that Stephenie Meyer can't hold a candle to Harry Potter's creator. "The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn," he said. "She's not very good." King did curb his attack slightly, explaining that while he's no fan of Meyer's prose, he does appreciate her storytelling — at least in relation to her audience. "People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books," King said. "A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet." King has rarely minced words about authors he doesn't particularly like, taking some of them to task in his book, On Writing. During the interview, King also called bestseller Dean Koontz "sometimes ... just awful" and James Patterson "a terrible writer" who is "very, very successful." Whose side are you on? Do Meyer's vampire tales suck? Or is King's criticism out of line? __________________ "I'm not waiting for life to show itself I'm going after it" - Shiri Appleby 4/29/06 was the greatest day of my life and one that I will never forget. | King is not all that good either - IMO. I swear he has a program that writes dialog for him... or he has a vast store of ready-made dialog that he cuts and pastes and then does "find/replace" to correct the names. __________________ Comfort the afflicted ~ Afflict the comfortable ~~~Anon~~~ A Father is a man who keeps photos where he used to keep his money | |||

| Never could get into Stephen King books, I find them boring not scary. Tried to read a few but just couldn't get into them. Have no idea if Meyer is good or not, never read a book by her. There are a lot of books out there that are in desperate need of good editors. Its to the point that you wonder if the publisher even looks at a book before sending it to the printers. | |||

| I have not read any Stephen King books nor do I like his taste in Baseball however I do dig his taste in Music. The talk of NY is the Joe Torre book. __________________ "I'm not waiting for life to show itself I'm going after it" - Shiri Appleby 4/29/06 was the greatest day of my life and one that I will never forget. | I have never read Stephen King's books either, but I can tell that Twilight sucks big time. I read the whole saga, and I got to say that Meyer writes what people wants her to write. I'm only eighteen, but I found that the story was made for younger audience, because it was soooo cheesy - especially the end of it. Also her writing, isn't that good. __________________ My LJ & Drifters Together For you I bleed, | |||

| I watched just enough of the Grammy’s last night to throw up a little bit in my mouth. As big of a music nut as I am I had no interest at all. I hate silly award shows. I turned it on more then halfway through the whole show. Even then I barely paid attention. Some of the highlights for me were seeing Alison Krauss and Robert Plant win the big award of the night. Not only was there album good but they are both legends. Plus it was great to see them beat out people like Lil Wayne. The only other band I was pulling for was radio Head. Just because of what they did with In Rainbows. The other highlight for me was seeing Alan Toussaint & the Dirty Dozen Brass band on stage doing there New Orleans thing. Even though the Hurricane is old news all ready it was cool to see them get some much needed recognition. Here is a Grammy moment from years past that shows you just how meaningless they truly are and that the voters don’t know anything sometimes. ![]() Just look at the picture above. Who looks more heavy metal to you? Well, apparently you were not a member of the Recording Academy circa 1988. The first instance of a category for Hard Rock/Metal, the award was given to the flute-tastic Jethro Tull's Crest of a Knave over Metallica's And Justice For All. Fans (and even some audience members) were rightly outraged, though Tull's record label tried to make light of the faux pas by placing a Billboard ad that read, "The flute is a heavy, metal instrument." When Metallica later won a Grammy for 1991's Metallica, they thanked Jethro Tull for not release a competing album. __________________ "I'm not waiting for life to show itself I'm going after it" - Shiri Appleby 4/29/06 was the greatest day of my life and one that I will never forget. | Sillyness Eric I'm a Tull fan - mostly of the older stuff like Aqualung and Thick as a Brick - but I'd never call them "heavy metal".I didn't watch the whole Hammy errr Grammy awards. I did catch a few moments - Katy Perry ![]() __________________ Comfort the afflicted ~ Afflict the comfortable ~~~Anon~~~ A Father is a man who keeps photos where he used to keep his money | |||

Nothing against Tull but they are not heavy metal. BTW I forgot to give a shout out to T bone Burnett. Not only did he produce the Raising Sand album but he also played on it. He also produced another classic from the 90’s you may have heard of called August and Everything After by the Counting Crows.__________________ "I'm not waiting for life to show itself I'm going after it" - Shiri Appleby 4/29/06 was the greatest day of my life and one that I will never forget. | One other random Grammy moment that I happened to catch. Blink 182 crew (after announcing that they were back together) did an award for something, I can't remember what, and the winner was Coldplay. The Coldplay crew came to the stage, I think it was the lead singer who took the award, he thanked some random people and then stalked off the stage. The rest of the Coldplay crew was just standing there like "hey I wanted to thank my mom too!" The lights went down and they broke for commercial - and I bet the Coldplay crew broke their lead singers neck. I predict Coldplay will be dissolved within 6 months. __________________ Comfort the afflicted ~ Afflict the comfortable ~~~Anon~~~ A Father is a man who keeps photos where he used to keep his money | |||

![]() At last years Oscars when the Swell Season went up to accept there award for best song from there film Once. Glen Hansard finished speaking and then they played the background music and went to commercial without giving Marketa irglova a chance to speak. When they got back from the commercial break Jon Stuart called her back on stage and gave her a chance to speak. She then gave a great speech and dedicated there win to all of the struggling musicians who sacrificed a lot to make there art. __________________ "I'm not waiting for life to show itself I'm going after it" - Shiri Appleby 4/29/06 was the greatest day of my life and one that I will never forget. | I called in sick to work today. I spent the day sneezing and not being able to talk because my throat closed up. I went to the doctor and they ran a bunch of test and then gave me 3 prescriptions. I hope they work. On a side note since I was not so sick that I had to lye in bed all day I spent some time surfing the web. Anyway while doing so I found the following info and I am curious to know if it's 100% real like the headline says it is or if it's just some imposer pretending to be Shiri. What I found was one of many Shiri Appleby myspace pages. They all kind of said unofficial except for this one. I am guessing it's not real because she does not have her own official website. Plus she does not strike me as that kind of celebrity but who' knows? Here is the info I found. Shiri Appleby Official "Yes, I am the official Shiri Appleby. Everyone is more than welcome to add me. I'll approve anyone. Just one thing . . . . NO POSERS!!!!!! Love,Shiri Appleby MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/348007856 BTW I also found a To Love and Die page as well.
