It's very refreshing to see a "disabled" person on television that truly is just as capable as any other, without storylines resolving around her blindness.

It was also important to show the way her parents treated her. I can understand the protectiveness, but treating her like she was a completely incapable person was not alright.

Oh yeah, there are many types of abuse, neglect is often forgotten in it but so important.
