They should have added a line somewhere early in the season saying she had found a new job somewhere or that she had gotten married to some rich guy or something and quit. Then there would be an explanation for her absence without needing her to actually appear.

Umm... He had a super realistic mask and disguised his voice the entire time. But then it got to be too much work and stopped and he erased everyone's memory of what he looked like before. His father did turn out to be a spy, maybe he knew all along and "borrowed' some advanced spy stuff to change his appearance.

Martian Manhunter would also work. (Any of the DC characters with the ability to change their appearance would) Maybe he knew Clark was interested in getting a job at the Daily Planet and wanted to observe another alien.

Or maybe Jimmy Olsen had a brother also named Jimmy Olsen and the brothers just switched places. Wouldn't be the only time that explanation was ever used.

I don't really know much about Plastic Man. I've only seen a little bit of the character in an animated show, but he's a DC character that's all stretchy and can change what he looks like.

Plastic Man & Elongated Man are similar, but they are 2 entirely different characters. I think Plastic Man is stretchier and can transform himself more than Elongated Man is capable of doing. I really only have limited knowledge about them though.

Well, it would make sense.

Yeah, Plastic Man and Elongated Man are similar in that they both stretch, but Elongated Man is more like Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four. Plastic Man can actually mold himself into objects, not just stretch.
