S7 is actually my favorite season along with S8. I started watching by the end of S6 and I got hooked right away, and while I love 99% of the show from S1 to S8 and 60% of the stuff from S9 to S15.... it was S7 the one that made me feel I could never stop watching ER and made me go back and discover the other amazing 6 seasons. Also, while I love the Clooney & Margulies days, S7 features my favorite cast ensemble, two of my favorite guest stars and my two OTPs. I have a lot of love for that season (and S8) and I also think it doesn't get enough credit overall.

Btw, I looove this title. Their first "real" date is so unexpectedly good despite them losing the boat, and their first kiss is perfect

I doubt it was intended but the parallel between that episode, where Abby suggests that maybe the baby could miraculously survive and she and Luka sort of have their first emotional connection, and their own baby being premature - it sort of just breaks my heart extra. Like it's already broken, but then it gets all bashed into tiny pieces.

But yeah, ITA that season 7 was the best ensemble cast and bridged the old and new very well. Mark and Elizabeth helped with that, where if they'd both been original casties, the old and new would be more differentiated.

Season 7 is a good ensemble. Only problem is lack of Susan.

I never thought of that parallel, and yeah it was probably unintentional to have L/A go through something similar, but it's still really sad to think about. Looking back, part of the reason the NICU episode in S10 affects me so much is because of what Abby goes through later. That, plus it's just an incredible episode.

^ Totally agree about NICU. I liked that they did make that connection in s13.

And I actually forgot that Susan wasn't in season 7.

I sort of just assume she's there all the time until s12. My mind must subconsciously insert her into s7.

It's funny; she arrived in Season 8 right when Luby were breaking up, and left in Season 12 a few episodes before Luby got back together. Was she some sort of mystical Luby impediment?

Probably. Maybe that's why she wasn't explicitly a Luby supporter.
