Oh my God, what the hell have they done to Neela? I've just watched episode 4 (I think it was episode 4) of s14 and the scene with Neela and Crenshaw where she does that stupid voice/impression/impersonation (whatever it was supposed to be) was so embarrassing I was cringing on Mindi's behalf the whole way through it. So far this season it's like something out of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers - she looks like Neela, she sounds like Neela (most of the time) but she's not acting like Neela at all and after reading here what's going to happen in the next few episodes it doesn't sound as if things are going to improve. Surely most people who had been through what Neela's been through in the last few weeks - almost dying herself in a terrible accident straight after finding out what had happened to Ray, a man whose life has been so entwined with her own for the past few years and who she was just about to start a relationship with - would be suffering from some form of post traumatic stress and taking time to recover from that not doing stupid voices at work. When Michael died we saw Neela alone at home crying as she watched the video message that he'd left for her and then later we saw her again at home on her own looking through some photographs of him. I just wish we could see something like that about Ray, a scene where we get some insight into what Neela's really feeling, maybe with her listening to the CD he made for her, or reading one of his letters, or even writing a letter back to him.

Thank God!! Now hopefully we can see some roomie action. Unfortunately, we probably won't see new episodes until April. Anyway, I'm glad it's over. Let's party!!!

I just read on People.com that the writers could be back at work as soon as Monday. So it most and likely won't be until April when ER comes back but I heard that most dramas will most and likely be able to do four or five episodes so the season won't be a total loss. Hopefully we will see Ray soon as well.

So do you guys think the timing of the strike's end (if it's really over) bodes well for the chances of getting a season 15? Or is there enough time left for TPTB to crank out enough epis to wrap things up for the whole series this season? (If that's the case, I fear our Roomies won't get more than a superficial treatment.)

Technically, the strike won't be over until the union approves. So perhaps we might be in a bit of a rush to celebrate just yet. Let's wait until it's official.

I'd say it depends on when the union approves it and how soon they go back to work. But it's looking like it could be April before we see any new episodes. They not only have to write/finish writing the new scripts, but they need at least 3 weeks to film and then it has to go to post-production for editing. So we're probably looking at a couple of months, at least. As for how many more eps we'll get, it depends on whether they end the season in May as usual, or extend it because there's nothing new to put on for the summer. If we don't get another season - which would probably only be a mini one, like 13 episodes, which would take us through December of '08 - to give them time to produce new shows for the spring of '09, then we'll probably get an offscreen resolution. Though it's still possible to have him back for an episode - probably the finale - to wrap things up completely. We'll have to wait and see. I'll just be glad to have something to watch again, cause I don't do (un)reality TV.

I doubt that there will be an offscreen resolution. I think they do intend to bring Shane back even if it's only for one episode(series finale). My personal opinion is that we will see him for at least two episodes with some off screen mentions prior to that to hype his return(similar to the mentions we've got so far). However, I'm still not convinced there won't be a season 15(a shortened 10 episode or less season ending in December 08). I think what TPTB might do is simply produce a sweeps type 4 episode arc premiering in April/May that will end with a cliffhanger type season finale and then just finish it off in the fall with a shortened season 15.

About time. Jeez!

Just to add, here is an estimate on how long it may take to see new shows in general now:

But once a production has scripts and is up and running, episodes are worked on concurrently and an hour-long show can be produced within eight days, he said.

That could allow an hourlong drama to return with perhaps a half-dozen new episodes, and a half-hour comedy to squeeze in as many as seven new shows for the rest of the season.

Networks, however, are likely to pick and choose among shows, with low-rated newcomers less likely to get deals for more episodes than a series like "Grey's Anatomy," which has a big, faithful audience.

Thanks for posting that. You might want to post it in the News thread, too.
