Voted! She's fourth, but I honestly believe she should be #1 and it's not because she's my fave actress to ever be on the show.

I voted too. Have always thought she's gorgeous. I am especially jealous of the way her hair is always so beautiful.

Have just voted as well. She is now tied for second with Maria Bello. Linda Cardellini is tops at the moment by a mere four votes.

Also caught the AZN AXA awards tonight. Lovely to see Parminder, poised as always, her acceptance speech was cute...her last thank you was to her immigration lawyer...hahaha

I would love to see it too. I spent all day watching E! entertainment channel on friday in hope of seeing clips of Parminder on the red carpet at the awards but they only interviewed people I'd never heard of! She must have gone into the building through a separate door. (I was meant to be on holiday at my boyfriend's parents house in France but I became so entranced by the wonder that is their cable tv package that I spent most of my stay inside watching telly!)

Anyway would it be possible for me to be added to the 'list' for this thread? I love Parminder. Have any of you seen any of her other stuff? I got the DVD for Second Generation which was a TV drama she was in that I seriously loved. Has anyone else seen that? There's literally no information on it on the internet. I spent forever trying to work out how to upload bits of it but gave up because my computer was making funny noises!

yeah i saw that when it first aired over here on channel 4 and then got the dvd too when it came out over the net, love Om Puri too, and the film itself the only negative is the main song, altho catchy, gets slightly irritating after a while haha great acting by all though, esp mindi and om. another example of the fact she can do the break down and crying thing well, so once again suggests she was directed NOT to do so as part of her character in th finale of ER.

i saw it too. i have rented it and watch it many times. i love the music that they played on the movie. i even asked my co-worker about those bengali dialogues on the movie.

i really regret going home early when ucla hosted that azn awards. i go to ucla and i was there in the library which is across from royce hall...missed the opportunity to see parminder..my friend saw her and her friend came across parminder in the bathroom not knowing who she was except for 'that girl in bend it like beckham.

Yeah I agree with you on that count, the actors/actresses don't direct themselves and I'm pretty satisfied that Parminder's reactions in that scene were a case of 'blank canvas', if you see what I mean? And in that respect I don't think anyone should doubt her skills: its probably quite easy to do a crying scene but to express the kind of numbness and dumb shock like she does seems like a skill in itself.

Anywaaaay, back to Second Generation: I know the annoying theme song you were talking about, the Oozi one or something. God, that song got so repetitive especially on my laptop which has a tendency to get stuck on the main menu of DVDs. But I LOVE the rest of the soundtrack, I really want to go to a clubnight or a holi celebration like the one they went to in it, it looks so fun!

I feel your pain: whenever I'm out in London and somebody with me spots a famous person in a crowd, I'm usually still searching for my glasses in my bag or something before I get to see them. Thats happened on, like, more than one occasion. LA sounds cool though. Sounds like you have brushes with proper stars (we only ever see reality tv type people, its really rubbish)!

Yeah, Just voted! Shes first now! *Yay*

I also saw Next Generation on channel 4, Mindi did an awesome job as usual. I really enjoyed it, she showed how versitile and how she can do different portrayals and continues to do so.

Yeah that's the one, the oozi one, gets repetitive after a while, and it's cos it gets stuck on the main menu too Lol
But i too LOVE the rest of the soundtrack, which i believe is due to the fact that I LOVE Nitin Sawhney who i think's the composer of some of it. He's awesome, did the soundtrack to 'the namesake' too as well as few others, his album's amazing
Anyway, enough nitin loving! Back to second generation....the scene you're talking about was filmed in 93 feet east, a club i've been to a few times, but never have i been to a holi or indian themed night there, i think they should tho!

Yeah its on brick lane isn't it? I go there every other week- I'm a takka dhal addict!

Anyway just to steer the discussion gently back on topic (because I know how annoying side-conversations can be*) can I just say how nice it is to see that not everyone's got a downer on Mindi? Not to wax on a topic thats been talked to death, i'm sure, but in my lurkings I had noticed that this thread was lying kind of dormant for a long time so its nice to see it bobbing to the top again!

*Although I could talk about Second Generation all day!
