I wish that Susan never got on that train and left the first time. I really loved them together. But then again, I can't imagine Mark without Elizabeth. ugh, the struggle of ships.

Lol really? I never dispised them together. Although I shipped Mark and Susan way before, I never really picked up the brother / sister vibe from them. Unlike Susan and Carter which was a whole other thing lol

The only time Mark and Elizabeth weren't arguing was when they were completing a life milestone... otherwise they fought constantly. And I hate how being with Mark changed Elizabeth's personality. I loved her character in the beginning but grew to hate her in the later years due to the newly found attitude

When Mark was with Susan it seemed so much easier... like they had this perfect rhythm going. Sure they butted heads sometimes, but there was no constant tension or friction. Plus, Mark laughed a lot more with Susan and seemed happier overall. Even in season 8 he seemed more at ease around Susan than anyone else, like a weight had been lifted (especially since his tension with Elizabeth was so high at this point).

But yeah Susan and Carter is an interesting one. I have to admit there was some chemistry in season 1 and I wouldn't have hated to see something happen back then. However, when Susan came back everything was different and they completely lost the small spark they had. Definitely brother/sister territory there.

All these years later, it makes me sad that we are left with so many, "what could have been..." thoughts. I loved Alex/Corday and grew to love Mark/Elizabeth, but there is this curious part of me that would have liked to see her stick with Peter and see Mark/Susan give it a go. However, if Sherry had never left, then the producers might not have felt the need to add Alex and Maria (Bello) that year.

But still, what could have been!
