I see....but why KILL the character? Couldn't she have just been wounded badly and so she's scared of coming back and leaves the hospital, I don't know, anything, WHY kill her off?? That way at least she could have come back if she wanted to

It seems like almost all the TV shows kill off characters if the person wants to leave... kinda sucks.

There were a couple of reasons floating around. One was that Kellie's screen-time dropped dramatically in Season 6 due to all the new characters. Also, Kellie's husband got a job somewhere on the East Coast and she didn't want to do long-distance so she went with him (as ER was filmed in LA on the West Coast).

As for why she was killed off, I don't know. I suppose Jeanie already had a happy exit that season and the writers were planning a happy one for Carol, so they wanted to do something dramatic for Lucy.

Yeah he had to lie. He was already in such pain. Easing Mrs. Knight's pain was the only thing he could do.

When Mrs. Knight got the things from Lucy's locker, I cried again. She looked so weak, so much in pain, this was killing me
