Yeah, I never pegged him for comics but it's cool to see him being creative
There's a full page transcript in this ER book I just got with the speech Benton gave to Carter in the pilot. Wow. |

Oh, yes.
What does everyone think about Peter's storyline with Jeanie? Were you surprise? |

I loved his relationship with Jeanie. Eriq and Gloria had good chemistry but I was surprised their relationship was cut so short in Season 2. I really thought their affair would be dragged out longer but it's something you could almost forget ever happened.
I thought it made sense that he would cry with Jeanie. Jackie was going through her own grief as well whereas Jeanie was able to be a full pillar of support for Peter. He didn't have to worry about her needing comfort as well. One scene I liked was when Jeanie went to see Peter as soon as she heard about Carla giving birth. Also, when Peter supported her through her Hepatitis diagnosis. |

I totally agree with what you have said, Stephen.
I did like their chemistry, as well. Weren't they the first African American... couple (I guess you could say) on ER? |

Definitely on ER yeah. Funnily enough, ER never got too much attention for it. I know Eriq was concerned with Peter/Elizabeth that it was showing a black/white relationship was easier than one between a black man and woman. Then when Cleo came on the show, a bunch of critics complained that she wasn't "black enough"

oh geez yeah I remember Eriq saying something like about that of the Elizabeth/Peter relationship which I guess back then was a great concern and had a right to be. I also liked that after their affair Jeanie & Peter were on friendly terms with each other I mean after like season 2 or so and I also loved he was a great support for her when she got Hep C basically I agree with everything you guys have said.

Yeah plus ER was the number one show on TV (getting twice the ratings of the current top shows) at that time so the Peter/Elizabeth relationship would have gotten an incredible amount of attention from minority groups.

Wow. Interesting. I understand from both POVs. But at least they did it for a bit, pushed the envelope.
John Wells fought for me, and I was brought on to get together with Benton, which the writers thought would be interesting because it was a mixed-race relationship. So, does that mean that Alex was just brought on to be Benton's love interest? |
