Yeah same here- for me because I'm roughly his daughter's age (20), I felt like a father figure and mentor had been taken away. County is where Mark belonged and he stayed for as long as he could before going off to die.

I'm just really thrilled Rachel will be continuing his legacy there at County (most likely anyways). And I bet if Rachel gets married, she will still keep the Greene name.

I'm also glad we didn't see Jen in the finale. She was always such a boring character.

Yeah, I didn't like Jen either! She was always rude to him, never stayed behind him! I always wanted Mark and Susan come together...

So agree with all the points about Mark. I still bawl like a baby when I see "On the Beach".

It was nice not having Jen back. I never liked her- she was a terrible wife.

I can imagine that!

I'd love to have a doctor who looks like Mark or someone other from ER

She was. And a terrible mother, too. Ugh.

It was awesome seeing Rachel back in the finale. It was really great to me that she changed so much and that she grew up into a responsible person because one of the things Mark wanted to do before he died was fix Rachel so I'm really glad she turned out good. I also loved Carter saying "Dr. Greene, you coming" Having Rachel was a good way to have at least a mention of Mark since he couldn't actually be there.

I'm so happy there's a Mark/Anthony thread again He was the soul of ER, definitely For years, Mark Greene was my favorite TV male character (until Luke Danes came along ). I will forever love him.

That's what I think too. It was really great that we could see Rachel's new start because Mark would've been so proud. I loved Frank's face when she said "I'm Dr. Greene's daughter"...And of course, Carter's last line I felt like crying...It was a great homage to Mark Greene indeed

I agree. Lucy's was intense, electrifying, and one of the best episodes ER ever produced. But it was the pace of the episode which makes it stand out, rather than Lucy's death. Romano's death was plain stupid. A complete sweeps stunt. Pratt's death was much more emotional, but it still can't trump Mark's death.

I think it's because we didn't see it coming. Even though we knew he was dying, The Letter aired before On The Beach, so when we first watched The Letter, it was like a punch to the guy when Carter read out, "Mark died this morning". So to see his dying days in the following episode made it even harder to watch.
I know! It's exactly how I felt too... And even after On the Beach, we still saw Mark in the OP credits for the next episode so my mind had a really hard time accepting he was gone for good

And also, one of the reasons why I loved the opening credits and was so upset when they replaced them is because it always had the silhouette of Mark coming out of the ER to talk to Carter on his first day I'm so glad they used those old credits in the finale because I see it as one of the many ways Mark was there in the end...

Some pics I found

Don't think this has been posted before.

There is a 4-part radio interview with Anthony on YouTube where he talks extensively about ER and Shoe4Africa. They really are worth a listen. Here are the first 2 parts where he talks about getting cast in ER, making the pilot, making the live episode, deciding to leave, and coming back for the final season:

YouTube - ER's Anthony Edwards Interview (Part 1 of 4) "Dr. Mark Greene" with Paul Edward Joyce on WPEA Radio
YouTube - ER's Anthony Edwards Interview (Part 2 of 4) "Dr. Mark Greene" with Paul Edward Joyce on WPEA Radio

And Parts 3+4 where Anthony talks about his charity:

YouTube - ER's Anthony Edwards Interview (Part 3 of 4) "Dr. Mark Greene" with Paul Edward Joyce on WPEA Radio
YouTube - ER's Anthony Edwards Interview (Part 4 of 4) "Dr. Mark Greene" with Paul Edward Joyce on WPEA Radio
