What's great about British TV series is that what they lack in number, they make up for it in quality.

Definitely. There is SO much quality original programming in the UK because shows only run for around 6 weeks. That definitely allows the quality of the writing to shine. The British version of The Office only made something like 14 episodes and they are still re-run.

Yeah, that's an odd one even for me.

Some shows go 2/3 years between new episodes so "season" isn't an accurate term. "Series" applies to the latest series of episodes.
