speaking of books and writing, i attended a virtual open-mic yesterday for the first time since the pandemic. it made me really miss talking to creative people.

on my side of the ocean, work is still....the usual. a bit stressful with what i suspect to be financial year ending data gathering, team leaders are calling us for follow-up.

i'm looking at options to buy my own place. a bit of a mixed feeling: work is not permanent (contract ends in Oct., there'll be work i'm sure just uncertain if it'll be on another team and the terms of new contract), interest rate for mortgage is soooo low, price of housing is going up by the day, tired of the lack of space living with mom

I should get the result tomorrow. The team was welcoming and most of the kids are adorable. I have pretty far to travel though.

You could maybe just rent a place till your job situation is more certain?

the results are quick at least. sucks long travel is it like over an hour travel time?

people can be years working from contracts to contracts, permanency could be quick or very slow, can go both ways. i was offered permanency at my previous government position after 6 months (they were under their visible minority target...).

i'm torn with renting. the market is terrible right now. there's not many vacant apartment for renting (at reasonable prices).

i would be able to pay for a place as long as i work there even if not permanent. i got money set aside. i'm more concerned about the bank and mortgage with my current work contract.

Test was negative but still have to self-isolate till the 25th as close contact at least I don’t have to travel

Keep a lookout for apartments, something suitable will come along, that’s what I’m doing as well to move closer

hmm it could take some time before it develops symptoms. any chance they could re-test?

yeah, I can get another test. Maybe I'll wait a day or so.
