KYLE: What?

TESS: Last night, when you said we'd moved in and taken over your life, I realized you were talking about me. I'm sorry I overstayed my welcome.

KYLE: Tess, don't leave.

TESS: It's ok, you know? You have the right to protect your family.

KYLE: You're part of the family I was trying to protect. As far as I can see, you're the only good thing about having an alien in my life.

TESS: Kyle?

KYLE: What?

TESS: You're definitely my favorite human.

KYLE: Yeah, well...you're my favorite Martian.

Well -- I was really talking about the quality of their interaction -- I know it isn't very romantic -- but NICK made it seem like he was really crushed by her actions...

^ Agreed. I really thought he was one of the most talented people on the show.
He has this amazing ability to portray different emotions in a subtle and believable way.

I love that he can be hilarious without overacting

But then in season 3 he tell her that she's the only alien he knew that didn't have a heart *sigh* I hated that the powers-that-be really screwed with them

Well they couldn't very well just let Tess hang around with Max's baby and keep the Max/Liz thing going. What would the series have looked like if Max and Tess got an apartment and raised little Zan whle Max finished High School and dated Liz "on the side?"

A little more interesting then what we got- but, it would have been better if Kyle, Tess, and Max got a place together and raised little Zan. And we can't forget Michael! That would have been awesome.

Then Max wouldn't have had the time to date Liz on the side.

I wonder if young people today even know what "Trimming the Lamp (of wisdom)" even means?

They have probably never even seen a lamp which needs trimming, or a candle, or ....

Being the oldest person around, I suppose I'll have to explain...

When a candle or an oil-lamp, or any other type of lamp which uses a wick (kerosene, whale-oil, etc.) burns for a while -- or, if it burns inefficiently due to corrupted fuel or incorrect adjustment -- the wick must be trimmed to obtain the appropriate efficiency from the lamp. The burned portion of the wick is trimmed-off and the lamp will then burn more brightly and more efficiently -- and usually with less smoke.

"Trimming the Lamp of Wisdom" will allow it to burn more brightly...

Next week I'll give a lecture on rigging-up your horse and buggy.

Okay, I knew about the lamp- we had a few outside lamps like that... but, I'll admit I have no clue about a horse and buggy!
