I guess we should use the rest of this thread to discuss these questions:

Why is it necessary for Nancy to have yet ANOTHER love interest so soon after Owen died? What is wrong with her being single while at the same time Nancy/Ace are slow-burned? Why are the writers not allowing Nancy time to heal? Why is The Fish (Gil) important to her storyline? Is he actually going to be hanging around the group or will he isolate Nancy from them?

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around these questions. No matter how many interviews I read about Nancy getting super messy and how the writers want her to experience all the emotions...I still don't understand WHY she needs to have another love interest...other than the fact that it's The CW.

Agreed 100% we said it lsst year , she shojld focus on herself not have a love intrest but i guess for the drama and story they want it... yawn

They're really doing this Aglaeca storyline to the bitter end eh??

I really thought they'd truncate it...but NOPE. They are finishing it out as intended. This would have been the original season 1 finale. I mean...it HAS to end now right??

Also MORE Carson/Ace.

Really wondering what the favor is?? Asks if he could work for him? Asks if he could meet him somewhere but really locks him in a room with Nancy so they make up before they might die? Whatever works!!

I really think the best way to approach the Nancy/Ace slowburn (especially if we have to deal with The Fish for a while for some reason), is to make them partners in Carson's law firm cases...stuff that probably would crossover to the Drew Crew stuff anyway. It would be very interesting if Nancy was so distracted by The Fish or whatever, that Ace starts solving cases himself and Nancy is like

😍 Them working together all the time would be FULL of UST and angst and fun. Especially since it seems like they're going to go in the classic guy falls first scenario complete with PINING. Nancy will probably be too messy to realize what's actually happening (been happening???) at first.

Besides, there are supposed to be more standalone cases as well...and the characters have to go off into their own plots eventually. They've been all spending so much time together because of the Aglaeca thing, but I'm guessing that might change after this plot concludes.

Also, I noticed they updated their episode content rating for 2x03 and there's an S...so I'm guess Nick/George really do have sex? And there's D in this episode's content rating which is basically suggestive themes. It makes sense if they think they're gonna die. I just hope they don't do anything TOO soapy with it...like Nancy walks in on them??? WHY??

Wow really? Why not? I have already seen it four times. I mean...you should at least watch it once. You can only tell so much from tumblr gifs. You don't get the whole experience.

I can't really think of a reason aside from the fact that it's the CW either

Maybe they thing Nancy will be too boring on her own? But she has so much going on that's probably not true. She really needs to be alone for a bit to heal and have any relationship (*coughs* with Ace) happen slowly.

I still kind of wonder about the Fish's purpose for Nancy too. I'm worried we'll just see him with Nancy and she'll end up kind of isolated from her friends since she was kind of the only one to connect with him in episode 1. But there's a lot of season left.

Also, another fairly obvious question...why would Nancy even want to be in another relationship right now? I mean...her last few didn't end great and one was flat out murdered. It just seems odd that the writers are pushing this one. I need more of a complete picture, but right now I don't really understand why it's necessary to her identity crisis. The only thing I can personally think of is that they don't want her to get with Ace yet so they threw him in there as an obstacle? But why not just give Ace the love interest (to distract himself from his feelings for Nancy) while Nancy works on herself? I saw someone on tumblr say maybe Owen was supposed to stick around longer but because of the BTS drama with the actor, they cut his stay short? And so this is what they came up with in the mean time? Because had Season 1 played out the way that was intended, I HIGHLY doubt The Fish would have showed up. But still...why does she NEED a love interest?? So I guess I'm going with...to serve the plot. His father was the Hudson's caretaker...so I'm guessing he'll play into that storyline. On the other hand, Ace, is totally Team Carson at this point. Maybe that also plays a role.

Yeah me too. But I wouldn't be surprised. Because who else would he hang out with other than Nancy and his sister? Maybe he'll cross paths with Ace at some point. Also...if Ace doesn't watch Nancy and The Fish make out...then what is the point of this storyline anyway?

I guess I could see her wanting some comfort, but wouldn't that come from someone she already knows? Yeah I think it would make more sense to give Ace a love interest if they didn't want it to be so quick.

Whoa wait I never heard this? I guess Fish could be kind of a placeholder for Owen. I'm actually kind of interested to see where they go with his family being so close to the Hudsons. But yeah I think Ace is firmly Team Carson.

Yeah exactly...unless that's the point...The Fish is just this random dude and it won't mess up any of her current friendships. I doubt she'll be thinking clearly either.

Yeah...he was fired from other shows before for bad behavior. On The Resident, I guess he threw something at Matt Czuchry and on Jane the Virgin he was harassing a female extra. As for Nancy Drew...IDK exactly what happened...but apparently some Nick/Nancy stans on twitter was fighting with him or something? IDK. He had this 3 part tweet about how he was harassed and the show didn't do anything to help him. And then I guess he was on twitter complaining about how his character was killed off and he wasn't told before he read the script (Dude...you're a guest star!). I tried going back and looking for some of the tweets but I couldn't really find anything. I did talk to some people before who were around for it and how it wasn't a great look for him. Also, NONE of the actors or writers follow him. So yeah...

Oh wow yikes @ the paragraph about the guy who played Owen. None of that is a good look at all and it kinda sounds like lots of people associated with the show weren't about it.
