I've watched that episode many times and I didn't realize until later that his dad actually speaks in that scene.

I just love their relationship. It's such a trigger point for Ace. He's just so scared for his dad.

It was a really good move for his character. You can sense the fear is just real. Ace tends to be chill and laid back about everything, but he does have his trigger points and his father is one of them.
