It seems like a silly plot detour to make. They should have made a different choice and not written the "easy" way out. Hope they'll fix it.

Even the title of the thread should indicate that they really had found something special in each other. It's so dumb when writers write these wonderful and emotional scenes only to throw it away the next minute? And for what?

nobody asked for it either, and seeing how they thought it was the last season of the series they really didn't have to break up one of the main couples -esp when they had such a strong build up

Yeah, it seems quite short-sighted to build up a couple only to break them up at the end. Did they really think people would be pleased with that? Only thing that would make sense is if they knew they were gonna have a chance to rectify it but even then it's not a great move on their part.

nobody wanted it. nobody asked for it. it really felt like lazy writing and the kind of 'oh you know that a character can only be bixsexual if they are in a relationship with the same gender .otherwise they are straight'

Exactly! And the show did some some queerbaiting with Mia in S2, like is she bi or not..is she a lesbian and it was exhausting. But then they gave these two such a good build up and developed Alex's character, and then had Mia come out as bisexual..and it was really really good. And while yes, people wanted Mia with a girl before we got the amazing development for Alex and Mia & Alex, people then started to ship them and the audience knows that Mia is bi no matter who she is dating - the writers do apparently not.

That's a string of bad decisions on the writers part
They should know better than to pull stunts like that. It is so harmful for anyone who is questioning their identity and could maybe see themselves in Mia or just overall people are so tired of LGBTQ+ characters being treated like they mean nothing and their stories mean nothing  Sad to see they couldn't keep the good thing going with Mia and Alex either __________________

I agree with this 100%. Esp since when S2 started they were really into the whole 'is she or isn't she bi' or 'is she or isn't she a lesbian'. It's just so harmful.
I'm really happy that they did drop that and have her say that she was bisexual, she didn't have to label it or say it outloud but when they already did all of that it was nice. But i don't like them building mia and alex and then just randomly throwing it all away __________________

Ugh no, that is not the way to show "representation". Down with unnecessary & harmful stereotypes of bis or lesbians and questioning people.
That is the good part about this messy story, that they did establish that she is bi, and will be even if she's in a relationship with a guy  __________________
