It seems Forty was not on good terms with their dad though. I was surprisingly sad when he died, he had so many issues and was trying in the end to save his sister (not knowing she's just as crazy as Joe).

Not that it matters IRL, but because this is fiction, I would assume Love was the firstborn twin. She's seen herself as his protector since they were kids.

All they really had were each other growing up so they had to look out for the other

Forty didn't know she was as crazy as Joe but at least he acknowledged that she was as messed up as him.

Their parents weren't very good at all.

It's so sad, Love was the only person he really had, and in the end he gets shot to death right in front of her. Both of the twins are extremely damaged, and their parents are the most to blame. Shoving money at your kids isn't enough to be a good parent.
