It definitely is true, I love how much the girls fangirled over him. He definitely had the looks and the personality to match. I think something endearing about Dawson is how he always seems so nervous around girls. It's like there's also this hint of modesty and hesitation when he's around them. It's adorable.

^ Definaly true. Only The Office fans would understand this, but Dawson reminds me of Jim in that sense, the modesty. Knowing girls fall for them left and right and still having that sweetshy quality about them. And yes, still only loving one girl. They could be with a million women, and still only love that one that stole their heart forever. Awe!

I thought this thread needed some spicing up so I've got some discussion for us:

How Hollywood-esque would you accept Dawson going?

We know that he's the last good man alive and he's the boy-next-door but he's gonna grow up and he's gonna change in Hollywood. Just how much would you allow if Dawson got in touch with his darker, more raw & rough-boned side. Could you see him smoking? Drinking? Abusing drugs? Partying hardy? Randomly hooking up with people? Swearing like a sailor?

What's your own feelings on how Hollywood could change our boy?

And what would happen when Dawson reached the point of no return... how would you or how would you see him pulling himself back from the brink? Because we know he will--Dawson's humility, integrity, and moral-compass are what will save him every time.

I pose these questions because the series finale didn't give us any justice where Dawson is concerned. We learned very little of what has happened to him over the course of a 6-year jump, and we're left with an even bigger cliffhanger in terms of his future.

I'd like to fill in some of these pieces and I thought some of you might like to help me.

I totally missed this thread when I was checking for new posts.

Mich, you raise a lot of good points and I've said time and again that I think the finale was kinda sucky (is it D or P) as though it was the only story worth telling and ok I'd be jumping up and down had the outcome been different, there was still more to talk about.

I forget where i posted it but basically I think there was so much more that could have been done. I so know I'm gonna steer OT a little here, but I'll get back on topic asap.

Dawson 622 vs 623/4 - In 622 D was trying to make a movie on a low (no) budget after Pacey lost his money VS has his own TV show and is struggling with trying to come up with an ending. Like Dawson had never made a movie/wrote a script and being stuck with how to end it.

Joey 622 vs 623/4 - goes off to "paris" as it appears D and P may have feelings and she's the reason they're not friends (no advancement there), I have no clue as to what Joey planned to do with her life VS I have no clue what joey's job is in the finale, she's still faced with if it's not Chris then who could it possibly be? cuz she's stumped and well, it's always been Pacey MY ASS, PJ kiss in 3 seasons, s1 don't count. DJ kiss in all SIX! (I typed sex gutter ahoy and 602 does that) but it was NEVER Dawson.

Jen 622 vs 623/4 - Was moving to NY and going to help with taking care of Grams (I think) VS has a kid and is now dying.

Jack 622 vs 623/4 - I actually know less about Jack than i do about Jen. I have no idea what his story in 622 is supposed to be (having not seen it all, or not recalling.) VS still gay, dating Pacey brother (had to prove Pacey right ) and going to care for his dead friends daughter.

Pacey 622 vs 623/4 - wannabe stock broker VS Icehouse owner.

Audrey 622 vs 623/4 - Starring as Miss Jacobs and hooking up with Todd VS fell off the face of the planet. Mentioned only!

Andie 622 vs 623/4 - 622 not even mentioned (I think) VS finale cut

Now first of all, Bessie, Gale, Jen, jack, Audrey, Andie and anyone that can breath on this show probably knows that it's supposed to be DJ, even jen asked Pacey is he going to borrow or steal his best friends girl. If jen had to ask the question, then surely it meant that she knew it wasn't over for Dawson and Joey.

but not to get too bogged down on DJ, this is about Dawson afterall and I think, some way to answer Mich's question I think.

Anyways, between 622 and the finale, there were some huge leaps.

Dawson - The movie, where'd it go? Did someone pick up on it? How'd he get from making a low budget film to having his own TV show and being a producer? More questions later!

Joey - How'd she end up in NY? With Chris? Why'd her story have to be triangle take 125021314684864784116546435465? How'd she end up in the career she wanted? Didn't she want to be like a writer? I love the DJ friendship but the writers compromised this time and again just to keep us hooked.

Jen - Single (I think, I'm sure CJ didn't go to NY with her) to having a baby, who was the father, where'd he go? Her story could have been so much more than dying and making Joey realize she had to make a choice before she died too.

Jack - I feel bad, i haven't a clue what Jack's finale story was and I can't recall what he was doing at college and what he wanted to be. But I know I never heard anything that indicated him being a teacher and I'd like to know why he ended up back in Capeside teaching. It's not like he had a house there and he only stayed there for about 4 years, so really he didn't have any ties. Is it possible that somehow Jack and Doug hooked up and then jack moved to be near him? How the heck do i know!

Pacey - I think there's a huge difference between working the stock market and working in/owning a restaurant (but I'm silly cuz I didn't know it was always pacey, go figure), but how did this change happen? And how did he end up back in Capeside? He wanted out from the age of 15 and suddenly he's accepting? And then if I am to buy the finale (see sig) then suddenly he's in NY? What's he doing with his time when he's not crying over Dawson's finale?

Now of these 5 main characters, Dawson has probably ended up in the environment that would change him the most. Hollywood culture as it is, I don't think he'd take too kindly to living in a goldfish bowl, but then we were never really told how big a star he'd become or how good his show was, maybe the show was really only taking off and he could walk down the street without being recognized. Are we to believe also that Dawson didn't have any meaningful relationships at all since I don't know when. I find it hard to call Natasha meaningful and I know what DJ have is meaningful, but seeing how Miss Potter reacted who knows how that'd be defined.

So was it a string of one night stands for a while, I could see Dawson being caught in this, relationships that were just about sex. not in the beginning, we saw what happened after he realized that Natasha wasn't the type to fall in love and was really just looking for a good time, but eventually I can buy into it happening...strange city, needing to feel something for someone.

I'm still not sure about the smoking thing Mich, I can't stand it and think it's a disgusting habit (sorry if I offended someone) and I don't think Dawson would, although who knows. I think it's acceptable to believe that he's dabbled in a few things, tried drugs but maybe took a step back before it became truly habit forming.

From what I have seen of the finale my impression seems to be that Dawson hasn't really changed much, and i don't think that's possible considering where he is and what he muct be surrounded by.

I hope some of that makes sense. I will try and say more on the matter though but i need to take a break from the big story.

Those are very good and well thought out points Karen. In some ways the characters regressed in the finale or they didn't progress at all. Though I honestly don't think that Dawson would ever lose that optimistic/hopeful/idealistic part of his personality. He had moments of cynisism but I don't think he could be hardened by Hollywood. Maybe a little sharper around the edges, but he went through some things that should have in all respects changed him into a harder person but it never happened. That's just my take on it though. Like you said Karen there were SO many blanks in the finale that it's hard to say. But with all that said I don't think Dawson would take up smoking...but in the world of fic it's entirely possible. I think that'd just be up to the writer's point of view.

I have some questions I want answers for about Dawson:

1. Where does Dawson live in LA? Apartment, beachfront, condo, Hollywood Hills?
2. What projects does his production company work on--strictly TV or does Dawson produce movies and other projects?
3. How successful is Dawson? Is he just starting out in fame or is he the new It boy. Would we see his gorgeous mug splashed all over the pages of People & Hollywood tabloids...
4. How long has 'The Creek' been in production? And how did Dawson shop around the idea to get the show made?
5. Does Dawson have any friends in LA?
6. How much creative control does he have over 'The Creek'? Does he direct every episode or is he doing creative control or does he just produce (handle the money) the show. There's a big difference between all of those jobs, and some Exec Series Producers cum-Creators take on multiple roles.
7. Who was this chick that Dawson stood up for a date? I don't remember her name, btw.
8. Whatever happened to Todd?
9. What is his relationship to Lily if he's always working and lives on the opposite coast?
10. Why would Spielberg be looking for Dawson if he's not involved in filmmaking but in producing a TV show?

Anyone have anymore questions to add... what do you really wanna know about the 6-year-jump in our boy's life?

1. I think he lives on the beach, it reminds him of capeside. It keeps him grounded.
2. They make all sort, films, television, documenteries.
3. I think that he's still kind of new, but everyone knows of him. He's definally in the tabloids.
4. It's been around for about a year. And he's been trying to start it for about a year.
5. He has tons of friends. Not like his childhood friends from capeside though.
6. In the begining he tried directing every episode, but it got to be too much so he let others direct it, but he was still on set. He writes most of the episodes to.
7. Rachel, she's just a girl that he's been on a few dates with. Not to interested in her. Work is more important.
8. He still talks to Todd. Todd's helped him with the show. Even directed a few episodes.
9. He's still a good big brother calls a couple times of week.
10. Because Spielberg saw the movie he made and thinks that Dawson has real potential.

See the Speilberg thing with me doesn't wash. It was Dawson's consolation prize and nothing more. I don't even know if it's possible that Speilberg would call just cuz he thinks Dawson has potential. Brit, what movie do you mean he saw?

1. I'm with Brit, I thik beachfront and my reason was urely so he could have somewhere to relax (on a patio) when he's not writing and I somehow think it'll give him inspiration and like Brit said, it'd cetre him.

2. I think at the moment it'd just be TV, we have no clue how long it's been going for but I thik maybe it's stil early days.

3. D's pretty much starting out but up and coming, so people know of him and DUH, of course his face is everywhere.

4. Show's been on for a season and I think maybe the idea was shopped around using the movie made in 622.

5. I find it really hard to believe that Dawson wouldn't have found at least 1 close friend in LA, with him being the kind of person he is I feel he would need to have someone to act as a sounding board/confidante and part of me thinks either Todd or Oliver (I miss them) would be ideal.


6. I's say D has a lot of control over the show (or as much as would be allowed by the network) he comes up with most of the stories and usually has things planned out very far in advance (think Joss knowing David would be going to Angel or that Buffy's mum would be killed 2 years later). He knows how it'll end and the main obsticles, writes a lot, directs too. I don't see Dawson as just producing, I think he'd die if that was all.

9. I thik there'd be some sort of closeness but I can't really think how. 3000 miles is a lot especially considering D hasn't seen Joey in 5 years, so just how frequently is he back East?
