| Dawson & Amy: Because they're kindred spirits in and out of the bedroom! If I ever had to pick another girl for Dawson then it was Amy. Amy was my kinda girl. She loved film. She was obsessed with amazon. She used subterfuge the first time she met Dawson to steal a kiss, and under a guise of watching a movie, got him into bed. No hours of preamble, talking for hours in circles, taking things slow, or hiding from one another--nope, just good ol' fashioned nekkid fun. Dawson had a lot in common with Amy. He was certainly intrigued by her. He was obviously attracted to her - and I don't just mean her film prowess. Amy was living the dream, too. Amy was a teacher and a mentor, and I like to think they parted that night as friends. I'm saddened that I never got to see a friendship flourish between the two. Dawson promised to call her, she expressed her desire for him to call, and they never followed up the relationship. I would have much rather Dawson been with someone as interesting and dynamic as Amy (if Dawson had to have a summer fling--or in Mich's fantasies, a true blue romance and meaningful relationship) than someone as vacuous, sleazy, and immoralistic as Natasha. I hated Natasha. I hated her even more that I could've obviously had Amy, but instead I had to stomach the Horror Harlet. Natasha put the Whore in Horrifying. Amy was intellectual, witty, smart, sassy, playful, sincere, vulnerable, fun-loving, mischevious, and scrappy. I loved how she sparred with Dawson. I love how she could hold her own against him. I love that she was a film critic. Finally, someone that understands that side of Dawson's life. I love that she challenged him. I even love that she didn't love his film, LOL. I'm sorry but that film sucked, and I need Dawson to see that and be humbled by the experience. Amy was a real woman, and a decisive one at that. She could've introduced Dawson to the real world, helped mold his future, and shown him what being in an adult relationship was all about--which didn't include waffling, fighting, fleeing, or denigrating the other person's feelings). And for those DJo hopefuls--Dawson learning how to be in a real relationship with Amy could've helped him teach Joey how to be in one with him. Amy could've given him the confidence to tell Joey to put up or shut up, which is what I think he should've ultimately done to her. ![]() So, come in and play. If you need anymore incentive--just think that most of Dawson and Amy's exchanges took place with a nekkid Dawson, so, at least the visuals won't suck! Just think of the fanarts, icons, and desktop backgrounds. Interested now? *grins deviously*Oh, and for a name--they're going to be the Sexy Film Geeks since that's how they see themselves. | |||

| Another awesome thread! These two were adorable. Even the actress who plays Amy likes James/Dawson: “He should be Captain America. Highly intellectual, very passionate about the film business. In love with Joey Potter.” Just skip the last part though. ![]() __________________ nothing going going wild in you, you know i don't do sadness. not even a little bit Icon Credit - shadybrightside | |||

| Welcome aboard, Britney. Great quote from Meredeth. I just love her. A while back I read an interview with her where she talked about how great James was to work with, and expressed her desire to have returned to the show. Reading that article both elated and saddened me. They never approached her to return, altho, she talked about how happy they were with her performance. I'll have to see if I can dig up that article so the rest of you can read it. She really said favorable stuff about James, which needs to be added to his list of co-stars that realize what a terrific actor and guy he is. But next time you enter the thread, hon, don't forget the pretty. I've got my eye on you as the Photographer & Designer of this thread. We've gotta pretty the place up. That's your job, oh fabulous icon maker! I'm just going to write long pontificating posts underscoring the missed potential with this couple and their virtues. Or, I may just write salacious, intellectually deficient, hormonally charged little musings for 'em. ![]() | |||

| ^ Awe! I have definally noticed, mainly his female co-stars always talk about how much they loved working with James, Meredith, Sasha Alexander (Gretchen) commented how she wished Dawson and Gretchen had just done it, Shannon Sossamen talked about in the RoA commentary how amazing it was to work with James, and how he was so giving. I will definally try to make some tomorrow. It's 2:30 am and I have a Job interview at 1:30 pm. But maybe somebody could supply me with pics. ![]() I like your job, stick with it. It's awesome. I too am waiting for your James encounter stories and photographs. ![]() __________________ nothing going going wild in you, you know i don't do sadness. not even a little bit Icon Credit - shadybrightside | |||

| The history of Dawson & Amy! :) Oh, sorry, Joey & Dawson Forever--I assumed everyone knew Amy. I should've provided more back story on her. My bad! Maybe I can even find some old scripts so I can post some dialogue they exchanged. Amy is Amy Lloyd. She's a film critic. She works for the Boston Weekly, which is Dawson's favorite local Boston paper. He used to read her colum, before meeting her, every day over coffee at a local cafe. He didn't always agree with her opinions, but he never missed her column. He was entertained and challenged by her own personal experience in the business. Amy's older than Dawson. I'd assume she's probably, at the most, about 5 years older than him. Or, at least, based on what she tells him about her own college aspirations and post-graduation plans. Amy attended film school, and made several small films (including a thesis film that she hated--it's so bad that she refuses to let Dawson ever see it, altho, he cajoles and pressures her), but she realized that she wasn't cut out to be a director. She realized that her vast knowledge about film, production, hollywood, and fellow directors was better served in the editorial capacity. So, right after college, Amy applied at the Boston Weekly, and became the hot shot film critic--which every filmmaker fears her wrath. She's got quite the reputation for being very hard to please, and Oliver (Dawson's co-director on his film) refers to her as the Dragon Lady, LOL. It's actually funny because the first time Dawson meets Amy, he comments that he doesn't think she's smart or film-saavy enough to watch his film. Amy relishes proving him wrong and bringing his ego down a notch or two. I love Dawson but he tends to have an inflated ego sometimes about his talents, and sometimes he needs to be humbled. That film sucked, LOL. The first time that Dawson and Amy cross paths is in Cigarette Burns (episode 518). Behind Dawson's back, Oliver sets up a preview screening of their movie, and invites the press. The press arrives in the form of Amy. Dawson is anxious and perturbed that Oliver ignored his advice to wait on showing the film, and goes outside for some fresh air. The pressure is mounting, and he's become terrified of the responses on his film. Outside the theater, Amy's breaking up with her boyfriend. She's very hot tempered and screaming into her phone. She blasts Dawson for eavesdropping and Dawson reminds her that she was kinda loud. They instantly rub each other the wrong way, and it goes down hill from there. Eventually, Amy leaves in disgust and Oliver drops the bomb that she's the critic that they must impress to get a good review. Oliver tells Dawson to do whatever it takes to lure Amy back. Dawson is mullish, but agrees. He convinces Amy to hear him out on his film over coffee at his favorite cafe, and they start to bond. They realize that they have a lot in common. Dawson even explains in the abstract about his break-up with Jen, and his lingering feelings with Joey. Amy and Dawson come to an understanding, and develop a commaderie. But as they're leaving to go enjoy Dawson's film, Amy thinks she sees her ex-boyfriend and asks Dawson to kiss her. Their kiss is hot and they're both taken aback by the steam and sparks enamating between them. Amy apologies off handedly for the subterfuge, when she realizes it isn't her boyfriend, and Dawson breathlessly tells her not to worrry about it. He obviously likes being used a decoy! ![]() Anyway, they return and enjoy his film together. It's hilarious when Oliver asks how Dawson was able to sway her, and Dawson simply states, "I made out with her." It's one of my favorite Dawson lines. It shows to me that underneath his small-town boyhood charm that he's slowly realizing his power on the opposite sex and owning it. I think due to his tumultous history witih both Joey and Jen that Dawson doesn't usually get to be confident or sexy when it comes to girls, so Amy was a good head trip for him. Next time you see Dawson and Amy interact is in After Hours (episode 521). They run into each other outside of a theater, and exchange more banter and film references. It's actually ironic because the only reason Dawson runs into Amy is because he's getting on Joey's nerves while she's studying. Dawson had asked Joey to go with him to a movie he needs to watch for his finals, but she rejects him in favor of studying in the library. So, Dawson goes by himself and then goes home with Amy. The whole dynamic of Amy and Dawson's relationship is built upon the bond of being filmamkers, self-professed film geeks, and open sexual interest. They never try to hide that they're attracted to one another. They're also very honest about their feelings. It was refreshing to see this experience for Dawson because up to this point everything had been about subtext and reading between the lines with his relationships. Amy wasn't complicated like Joey and she wasn't mired in ambivalence about her sexuality like Jen. Amy owned her sexuality, and instantly let Dawson know she was interested in him. When they arrive at Amy's apartment, Dawson's amused to find that she's like the female version of him. Amy utters the phrase that they're kindred spirits, and for all intents and purposes, Amy's probably the only one that truly understands Dawson's life long dream of being a director. She gets him on a whole other level. He can relate and confide in her without censoring himself because of her feelings. She doesn't have that history of baggage with him. While sifting through her movie collection, bought through amazon.com, they engage in movie banter which lead to kissing which lead to hours of pleasurable and luxuriating sex. The sex is only put on hold to eat Chinese food and discuss Dawson's current situation with Joey. That's another thing to note is that Amy acted as a sounding board for Dawson without bias. Dawson was able to ask Amy what motivated her to sleep with him, and Amy responded that it was his shoes. He's intrigued with her logic. Since Amy's older, she's also gone through a great deal more emotionally in her life, and she proves to have great insight on adult relationships. I love when Amy said that she many times wanted to throw a Cuisinart at the head of her ex-boyfriend, but it didn't help matters in the communication department. Dawson's response to that statement was that she's violent and it turns him on, LOL. Dawson always has liked the fiesty ones! ![]() I'd say their evening ended about the time they were too sore to move from sex or Dawson remembered that he had finals to still study for! Dawson and Amy parted as friends. She gave him another parting gift (get your minds out of the gutter--it's a movie!), so maybe he can find some answers to his life's turmoil. This feeds the theme that Dawson can find the answers to life's questions through movies that was very prevalent in S1. It's a Woody Allen film for anyone that cares. Dawson promises to call Amy, and she expresses her desire for him to definitely keep in touch. They kiss and in a nice movie-sque tribute, Amy watches him walk off into the sunrise. Oh and since I know many of you are still DJers, altho, you respect Dawson had other relationships--Dawson asks Joey when they meet up, if she likes his shoes. Puzzled Joey admits that she does, and asks why he wants to know. Giving her a little smile and little else in the way of answer, Dawson falls asleep beside her, while she looks at him in a new light of understanding. ![]() So... hopefully that's enough to go on in terms of Dawson and Amy's history. Maybe now you guys can understand why I just adored Amy and her involvement with Dawson. ![]() BTW, in my imagination, after Joey wrongly chose Pacey in the finale, Dawson found Amy again and they dated and got married. Right around the time Joey realized her mistake, begged for another chance, was rejected by Dawson, and cried herself sick to sleep the night before their marriage. Heh. Suck on that, Joey! ;P | |||

| Pictures of Dawson & Amy to pretty up the thread! Here's some pictures to refresh everyone's memories on Amy & Dawson's relationship on DC. It was very weird searching for DC pictures online since I haven't done anything related to looking them up since the show went off the air. It was kinda freaky and eerie. Does anyone else ever feel like that? Cigarette Burns (518): ![]() Hehe, nice trick, Amy--pretending you see your boyfriend to steal a kiss. I like your style, girlfriend. ![]() ![]() Must've been a damn good kiss--Dawson's covered in Amy's lipstick. Look at Dawson's dazed expression... he likes how they do things in Boston! ![]() ![]() This is Dawson giving his final speech about his movie. This speech is heavily influenced by what Amy and him discussed at the cafe, and they share a great non-verbal exchange as he gives his speech. This is the image from when Dawson asks Joey if she likes his shoes: ![]() Notice how messed up his hair is? Amy's a wild one! *rawr* After Hours (521): ![]() Dawson hanging out with Joey at the library before he runs into Amy at the theater. I totally envy his mac laptop. *drools* Last edited by Mich; 01-22-2007 at 05:14 PM Reason: Sorry, Bea, I'll keep the picture posts smaller... | |||

| Amy gave Dawson "Tigerlily" which is a Woody Allen film. Dawson was hopeful that it'd be her thesis film, but she said he wouldn't ever get to see that one. And yeah they talked about that movie. It was about how no says what they mean or is upfront about their personality. | |||

| I would have liked Amy back in S6 if they had to keep D/J apart as they did Much much better than Natasha. We could have seen them work together and see how two artist confront their issues ![]() __________________ R.E.S.P.E.C.T | |||
