Well I do think there will be some longing, but I thinking maybe a near death experience to get the feelings pumping. Which will bring them closer and perhaps all the work they are doing to protect the big alien secret. With a lot of near misses, but then the cosmic love of theirs gets fed up with being ignored and they can't deny it anymore and it takes hold.
