1988 was kind of a weak year in cinema. I liked Die Hard, Rain Man, A Fish Called Wanda, Coming To America, Bull Durham, Running on Empty, etc., but for the most part it was an unremarkable year for film.

Never watched any of those. Except bits of Die Hard.

Like I said, it was a pretty weak year in cinema, especially compared to the previous year, 1987.

The Last Emperor, Wall Street, Broadcast News, Moonstruck, Predator, Lethal Weapon, Robocop, The Witches of Eastwick, The Untouchables, Fatal Attraction, Dirty Dancing, Full Metal Jacket, The Princess Bride, Spaceballs, Good Morning Vietnam, Empire of the Sun, Beverly Hills Cop II, The Living Daylights, Three Men and a Baby, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Running Man, Raising Arizona, The Lost Boys. 1984 was a really good year for Hollywood as well. 1984 and 1987 were two of their most lucrative years in terms of box office in the 1980s. __________________

Yep, 1987 was a good year.
1984 was an even bigger year. Ghostbusters, Beverly Hills Cop, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Gremlins, The Karate Kid, Romancing The Stone, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Splash, The Terminator, Footloose, A Soldier's Story, Amadeus, The Natural, The Killing Fields, Places in the Heart, Starman, This Is Spinal Tap, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Sixteen Candles, Purple Rain, etc. __________________
