Seriously, I'm surprised that JJ Abrams actually thought he could get away with this D- book report he did on George Lucas. He shows his own limitations and mediocrity as a storyteller with this crap. There was nothing original about The Force Awakens at all, it was Abrams doing the first Star Wars the way he'd wanted to have done it, tracing over Lucas' work. At least Lucas had the guts to take inspiration from Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress and the 1940s serial Flash Gordon Conquers The Universe and make his own thing, borrowing a few things from Dune.

Makes me wonder what the hell the point was? If no one had a good idea for how to continue the story from Return of The Jedi, why bother?

Yeah, but they could still have hired him to do it. They didn't have to use JJ freakin Abrams.

No, they wanted to go Kennedy and Abrams' way. I get the feeling that manipulative harpy had been planning this since she started working with Spielberg and Lucas in the 1980s.

I don't like labelling Kennedy like that.

Oh, I wanted to say something harsher, but I decided not to use the emoticon. But she's betraying everything that Lucas built.

That's true, but Kennedy took it a step further by totally desecrating it.

Yeah, but that was just some childishness on Lucas' part. He was jumping on the CGI bandwagon and wishing that he'd had that technology on his original trilogy, but you didn't see Scott, Spielberg, or Cameron doing that. Well, Spielberg did do it with ET, which was stupid.
