Yeah, that's where Lucas filmed the Tatooine scenes for Star Wars. Raiders was filmed there for all the Tanis scenes. I don't know if the Cairo scenes were filmed in Cairo, though.

Yeah, Cairo in 1980 probably looked nothing like the Cairo of 1936.
