It's not a case of HBO "messing up." It's a very definite policy of not giving easy endings.

It's not HBO messing up, it's David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It was a very easy ending actually, no complexity to it, no depth. GoT will always remain my 2nd favorite show of all time, but even as a huge fan I can't defend this ending blindly. It was lazy writing.

That's not what I meant by "easy ending."

Well either way I thought it was disappointing I'll just pretend it ended halfway through it when things were still somewhat making sense.

ETA: Is super slow for anyone else or just me? I double posted like crazy on some boards and had to keep merging posts...

Oh, I see what you mean, sum1. Yeah, well, I don't always expect easy endings, but I do think that HBO sometimes tends to go overboard, always going for the hard ending even if it might not be earned or justified.

Nope, FF is okay for me at the moment, Tar.

Yes, HBO does go overboard giving their audiences a hard time with the endings.

Yeah, well, like I said, I don't mind a hard, down ending as long as it's earned and it fits the story. But HBO seems to do it way too often, as if they're trying to hard to be serious and dramatic. There's nothing wrong with a soft ending or even a happy ending every once in a while. No need to be so depressing. What is this, the early 90s grunge era?

I guess it depends on the show, some shows don't really go with happy endings...

I've been so bad today, I've only posted on this board out of my 4! I'm just so tired I also choose this one when I have limited energy But hopefully tomorrow I'll get back on track...

Well, I like a happy ending if it's earned. I don't want a sad ending just for the sake of having one. It's like a song. The end note has to fit all the notes that came before it.

Aww, it's okay, Tar. We all get burned out and need to take a break.

I like happy endings, too, for sure I like both kinds depending on the genre of what I'm watching.

And thanks I managed to post on all my boards today thankfully, even through the tiredness

It's not a matter of just happy vs sad endings with HBO, so much as intentionally unsatisfying ones.
