The only thing is i still have EB games i feel bad getting another job , but atm im not overly enjoying the job . I feel like an annoying person cause for so long i wanted another job i have kt and im complaining. I just feel they are giving me to much to do for a newbie.

Yeah its hard centrelink for me will do me well for time bwing i could save a lot cause i have no where to go but im waiting for the call

Thanks for the new thread & adding an OP to it

If you're not enjoying it & it doesn't seem like they're treating you right maybe its not the best fit for you? It happens, so no reason to feel bad on that. It could just be everyone is stressed so they're not meaning to make you do more than you should as a newbie, but it could also be a bad environment to work in. I don't know. Up to you what you want to do & feel is best

As for complaining - I think lots of people have every right to complain, but its so hard to make a complaint right now. People who have a job are meant to be quiet & be grateful, regardless of any concerns they may have. Then just because you wanted another job for so long doesn't mean the one you get is going to be the right one.

My industry has a lot of concerns over this 'free childcare' scheme being rolled out ... hopefully it'll be helpful & not cause money issues for the centres themselves. Childcare fees help pay for resources & wages & rent/bills,ect. & those necessary fees needed to be paid aren't going to go away too . There's a fear wages will need to be cut & we already get paid low wages. Plus that families will now bring their children back in & not just be enrolled & keeping their children home. We don't want more children & exposure for the safety of the children who do have to remain in our care & us
My landlord was talking to me yesterday & thinks this is some job security for me. To me I question if it'll only make it harder working right now, then for me to find a new job since I do hope to eventually relocate when the world starts going back to normal. But maybe most of those 6 months will be spent waiting for things to go back to normal, then for me to get enough experience to get my drivers license since I need that before I can relocate where I want to go.
Another point from my landlord is how COVID-19 is supposedly hard to spread - it is spread through the water droplets in the air from sneezing. My response to her was 'do you know how many times I get sneezed on a day' . I love my industry, & the children, & I'm really glad the government sees importance in keeping us open for the essential workers. But its not a safe industry to be working in when it comes to germs. I got chicken pox last year for example & I couldn't tell you how many times I've had laryngitis

Hope centrelink does help you for a bit . It is at least something we can all save since there's nowhere to go out to too

Your welcome

Yeah well.EB games thw people are nice its just now with this virus they are way mroe buiser than they usually are so i need to do more , im just like not use to not knowing what im doing i was at my other jib for 8 years i know more than most things so its hard . Ill see how we go i just probably didnt think that i would need to do this much . At the moment thw job is ok im hoping ( which is bad) that they mighr close and i can try and lool.for.something else... i got 3 shifts this week which ks good to.learn more i hope i learn to like it more.

Yeah i saw that free childcare thing , see i dont get how it will help the worker's like yourself cauze ot doesnt but it helps the parents , wirh this free thing will you get a payrise?? .
If you were to get anotjer job what would you want to look for?.

Tjis year is so.odd of a year i feel we.will lose so much cause of this virus

Yeah the virus has thrown everyone I think. It would be a shock for you not knowing what to do anywhere Being someplace new sucks but I'm sure you'll pick up on it soon enough. Its just a shame its right when they're busy & the world is the way it is
I hope it works out for you

tbh I think a lot of stores like that should just close. Yes that's not good for the workers as then you're all out of a job, but its safer to just put all these shops online & force people to stay home.

A payrise? Not with the free childcare. The free childcare scheme the government is giving centres 50% of the fees they would've gotten based on enrollments from the first week of March. A lot of services have seen a drop in enrollments since then as families go into self isolation so looking at it that way it'll help the services stay afloat. But it doesn't help everyone or necessarily cover all costs still. Then poor family day care are getting the short straw as they've had an increase in enrollments instead but will still get paid based on the enrollments from March so if they had less children then they're losing money now on this scheme.
There is some relief though providing childcare centres are eligible for the JobKeepers scheme - but we don't all know if we are. Thankfully today my organisation confirmed that we will be . With that I will get a payrise as everyone on that scheme is entitled to $1500 a week (before tax) & I don't earn that amount. Anyone who earns less than it are still meant to get that amount

For a new job mostly I just want to change locations, not industries. I have looked at some sort of disability support teaching though, but I'd need to get that qualification. But I like my industry & I like the little kids. I just don't like where I work or where I live right now.

This year is crazy. There are no words for it

I feel ya

Like its so odd in the world rigjt now.. I feel my job at eb games is ok i do not enjoy it cause it's busy and i want to learn more about the products that im selling. But the other workers are saying once this dies down it won't be this busy it is actually more quite and you will be lost.

See that makes me unease so a normal week is quite ?? Meaning not a lot of shifts , ( usually would be ok cause i habe my other job) , this lockdown has only really made me reconsider my choices for this year with my job. I honestly should get a full time job . Im almost 30 and i have 2 casual jobs not good.

I'm kindda hoping whicj is bad that eb games closes and i can just find something else .

Yeaj childcare thing sucks , but if you good for centrelink that is great , im waiting on a call from them , fingers crossed . See my sister did before and after school care she loved the kids not the job or the work load i find jobs in the field they get used a lot.
But yeah nothings worse tjan not liking where you live and work , it sucks qualifications for.disability what would you need?

Hopefully things settle down soon but yeah the world is crazy right now. EB Games are probably a lifeline for people - everyone wanting something to do while they're stuck at home!

I don't know, I don't think you can put an age of things like that . You've got a job (or two), & if you're happy & healthy that's what matters. At least you've got income coming in

The JobKeeper payment comes from the government, not through centrelink. Centrelink won't help me at all. Hope they call you back soon
Education of any kind is a lot of work & while its rewarding people don't realise just how much work goes into it. Paperwork amount is terrible sometimes

It does suck

Depends what I want to do. There's various disability courses available. Unfortunately none aimed at the 0-5 years age group which I think is silly. I know there's a Cert III in Individual Support (Disability) but that is more to give you qualifications to be a disability support worker. So I'm more looking at the Cert III & Cert IV in Education Support since that is the school-based disability support.

Thanks, i feel bad this way with this job, but i feel it is way to much to learn , and the rate with how busy it is i dont see how I can learn more important things. Sometimes i kinda wish it gets shut down for a bit and i just find another job and it will be a mutual leave i feel bad to just leave.
My manager said it is a big job lots to learn and they usually choose certain types of people that would do right for the job

So you will avoid for the job seeker my other job i might be able to get that, i just would like the income to save really . I miss that job i didn't think i would.

Yeah child industry doesnt get enough help they do so much its not fair . Yeah i dont think ive seen a course for you kids and disabilities whixh sucks

what? how is that an ok thing to do? hope the half an hour goes well for you

One of my co-workers linked an article written by a qualified teacher who basically has been made to feel like nothing as while schools are allowed to close early childhood settings remain open. All other teachers are preparing for children to work from home while despite the fact that she still plans for learning, teaches children, has a university teaching degree, & pays to be a registered teacher she has to keep going because she works in early childhood. It was a sad read but spot on. It also brings up the fact that parks are all closed to protect everyone but it is ok for 90 children to keep going to early childhood services to cough & sneeze over each other. The government is taking a gamble with the lives of our youngest citizens as well as the adults having to go to work each day to continue to look after & teach them. I don't mind my industry being open but it should just be for essential workers not everyone. This free childcare should have also came with a thing that said remain enrolled but don't send them in. If you read any of the recommendations it says for school kids to remain home from school if possible or some states have closed schools. Meanwhile childcare remains open as normal. I totally get our importance of keeping the country running but you also need to look after the industry too. Then don't risk the lives of all those little children who either don't have an immune system yet or are still developing them (let alone their hygiene skills) & consider the health & safety of the adults caring for them

I know what you mean Rita. I kept confusing myself yesterday thinking it was Saturday but really it was Friday

If they really want childhood centres open, it should be with really small numbers

Yeab i dont see how it's ok , i dont feel I'm ready to do it but its happening.. I'm will see how it goes im getting more use to it . Still not overly enjoying it . Depands on how these weeks go i might start looking for work elsewhere maybe even full.time .

Yeah see the childcare it sucks man it is a huge gamble with it man . I feel you need more support and the government has no idea what they are doing . They are lifting more restrictions and i feel that is a bad thing.

Since this lockdown i have no idea what day is what .?

I completely agree Rita. Early childhood education & care services should just be used for those who have no other choice. Keep essential services going by providing for their children, not encouraging all families to send them in

Maybe they have no other choice but for me I don't think it is right. Especially if you are still learning the job. Is it at least a quieter time of day when you will be alone?

governments everywhere seem at a loss at what to do. Then in Australia each state are doing different things so even the state governments can't agree on what is best . what gets me is we aren't on lockdown, we just aren't meant to move. The government seems to be trying to put off putting us in lockdown or avoiding the word. But then there isn't a clear understanding on what we are allowed to move for. Sometimes I wish they would just put us in lockdown & get rid of all the reasons you can move. Just stick with the shopping/working/exercise ones
