Yeah. I know I have coworkers who want us to be closed, then its awful times with so many parents wanting answers, wanting us to close, pulling out children, ect. But personally I'm just glad to have a job & want the children to have some element of normality in this crazy time so if I can be a part of providing that for them then I'm happy. Way too many people are out of a job right now & its terrible. This year isn't starting out good at all. Hopefully the second half of the year will be much better

Even my driving lessons now have been cancelled until further notice because of the risk of COVID-19. So now I feel stuck in limbo a bit as I'm relying on them to learn how to drive so I can move back closer to my parents. I was hoping to be able to move as soon as possible but now I'm stuck waiting to be able to have lessons again. I also had plans to go up to my parents place for two weeks in April & I don't know if I'll even be able to do that

How are things for you Petra?

i do agree on keeping it normal for the kids, must be so scary for them , and to have a job is perfect save as much as you can . The not driving bit sucks a lot it would be the hardest bit not being able to drive now,

Me is a mixture i did have a casual job at a job arcade centre but it got closed down on monday , which is ironic cause it was my 8 year anniversary of that job and my last shift there for how ever long this lockdown last for. But in the mist of this craziness i got a 2nd casual job , i thought it will get lockdown but they aint its at EB games so electronics so people are still going in , which is good still have a job i have my introduction tomorrow for 3 hours

Yeah, its good to have the job, & to save while I can. We'll see what happens though
Today we had a total of 23 children across the entire centre & we're around a 79 place service. We may not be full across the centre every day but still that's a lot of families keeping their children home. Then there was 11 staff for those 23 children so we had about 5 staff too many.

Glad you've got a second job for the interim . I can't imagine they'll close EB Games & shops like that just yet. People will want the entertainment too

they will keep you open for abit yeah? i hope they do in a way but you guys just be safe

At the moment i dont feel they will close EB games cause of the reasoning that people are buying like crazy , the one thing i do think eb games can do is santize more or not let people into the store but get us to check for them. Saying that its no more than 10 people and we dont accept cash

The company doesn't seem to want to close. Even in the states where schools are closed & even other childcare/preschools they are staying open. They want to be there for the essential services who still need them. But they've got excess staff . They're not hiring, all their casuals now have no work, & they're asking staff if they can go help out in other centres if they need help. But even after they do that in my opinion they'll still have too many staff.
They've got over 600 centres across Australia though so I can't fault them for trying to do what is best for the country & help out where they can. But its hard for the staff. We're coming to work with not much to do & are all in a bit of limbo as we don't know what is happening. Plus we've got to look after ourselves & our own health too

Yeah they should be constantly cleaning . They could go online only with store pickups? That'd help too while still keeping staff in jobs or at least some...

Yep i feel the otherside to it yes you have a job , but you are in limbo and for people who are working your type of job is anyone coming in? Now its worse cause you have people coming in risking their health and notjing to do . Its so odd ky sisters in the same boat.

Eb games is ok i sont work as much , i feel it will be 2 shifts max and i will be getting centrelink to to help out .. who knows maybe now ill save a lot of money now .

Its the uncertainty that sucks

It is I wish they could at least send some of us home. Crazy having 4 staff today for 11 children for example. We only needed 2, maybe 3 to cover lunch breaks. Then don't start on germs... children don't understand social distancing & they need to be close to you at times

That's pretty good & at least centrelink can help you out too! That's a good thing You can get some money coming in still, but can also take some time to stay home & keep yourself safe. While also still working some days so you don't go too stir crazy

Uncertainty is terrible

I just saw we need a new thread. Do you have a title idea?

Coles would be good to try for

I can only get centrelink if I leave my job . While I do want to quit my job eventually, I doubt that I can really afford to rely on centrelink at least not for too long anyway (although looking it up they'd give me around $200 less than what work does a week so maybe I could)
