I'll hear a particular song lyric and know that I really want to make an art based around it, or I'll watch a scene from a film or tv show and get inspiration from that... But what about the rest of you? It'd be interesting to find out where other people get their inspiration. From other arts? Things you read?

I've got to agree with Scythe. I'll hear a song and build something around that. I listen to the song over and over again until I've posted the piece on Fotki or posted it here.

I don't know. A lot of things just come to me, like when I'm falling asleep, or watching TV, or at school.

I get inspired by colors a lot, too. Is that weird? I'll see whatever's in my palette and build from that. The colors will give me a vision of a background and then I'll see a form of a body or something and I'll just see it. Is that weird?

Hm...good question.

I agree with all the things that have been said -- usually songs, other people's art, books, pictures, but mostly One Tree Hill. Which is probably why most of my fanart is OTH-related. I even sneak a bit of OTH into the stuff I do for art class. (Right now we have to do this "found object" project and I collected a bunch of old AOL and college CDs I got in the mail and strung them together to create a canvas to draw on. It's supposed to have this future/graduation/college/dream theme which was partly inspired Haley's decision to leave school temporarily to follow her "dream" -- hence the CDs.) I also love Peyton. Her art is constantly inspiring me, even though she's just a TV character and it isn't really her art, per se.

My inspiration comes from a variety of things.

- Sometimes a phrase, or a song lyric
- Sometimes a picture or two
- Occasionally a texture will scream to be used, so I oblige
- Sometimes a font or a brush will inspire me
- Sometimes other people's work will make me want to do something similiar
- Tv shows scenes are a big inspiration maker

As you can see, a lot tends to inspire me. After I've got the inspiration, it's just dedication and all the right tools that actually gets me through, because usually each piece has over 30 layers to it. It's truely exhausting.

Lyrics always inspire me. Once I made a B/A art just because of the lyrics.

Also, it's very important how I feel at the time. If I'm depressed, I'll most likely make a sad/angsty art. If I'm cheerful, I'll make a happy one or a bunch of icons. I love expressing my feelings through art.

Mostly pictures. But sometimes I can hear a song, and just see pictures in my head (don't ask ), and I just have to find pictures that resemble the ones I saw and make something. Stress dries me of creative ideas, so I haven't really made any art for a while, but I'm back
