Rae, I don't know why but they don't scare me half-as-much as big trucks do. I should ask drivers if they feel a difference. Hmm... I like thunderstorms at night. I don't want them when I'm at work (the kids are crazy enough on their own, add fear to that mix and it's a headache) and I don't want them taking out my electricity when I'm watching tv.
Dave, way for your country people to live up to stereotypes. |

Personally? My work never shuts down. We had a huge ice storm 20 years ago and the boss wanted people to go in for that. A lot of schools downtown don't often get snow days but every school is allotted 2 floating ped days a year in case they do need to shut down for whatever reason. Schools outside of the city close a bit more often than anywhere else because the school closures depend on whether school buses can make it to school or if the services are cancelled.
2 years ago another province had 12 snow days to make up for and it was a mess. No one ever has that many to make up for. One idea I heard floated was using Saturdays to make up for it. __________________

That's crazy about the snow days! I have them around me. Sometimes even businesses close. It's all up to if the plows can get it done and make more roads than just the main ones safe.
The first day back to work after a vacation really is tough! Hi, Jac! __________________

Rae, that's not a bad way to go. I remember a couple of yeats ago we got hit with a massive storm. Drivers were stranded on a highway overnight, it took my sister 4 hours to get home from work (about 11 km away). Buses didn't exist the next day. It took me twice as long to walk places because of the snow drifts and lack of buses. Why didn't I call in?
Dave It's been a rough day at work for me. I cried when I got home and now I'm fighting a headache. |

Well it wasn't that bad for me. I don't care enough about the job to cry.

Speaking of snow days, a few years ago it snowed about 23 inches (58 cm) in Milwaukee and my boss wouldn't cancel work. I couldn't open the front screen door cuz the snow was piled in front of it so I went through the side door. I made it as far as the middle of the driveway, where the snow was up to my thighs before I decided that my boss could fire me cuz I wasn't going to go in. None of the small side streets were shoveled anyway!! I hate how they value a piece of green paper more than they value a person's life.
