Been rewatching all these the past week, about 2 episodes from finishing season 3. It's even better when binged.

I don't expect many people to agree with me on this, but I hate that they did the obvious thing here just to keep people watching. I mean, they could have done something else - if they wanted to keep the actor in the show, they could have shown him in flashbacks or maybe as some vision from the Upside Down coming to warn the Byers of impending danger.

Yup, that's how I feel, but they sure love to use the shock value then bring them back.. I just want to see how they can go further w/o him.. Oh well..

Tbh I think it's kind of sad that we all knew he wasn't really dead. Like, we expect 'dead' characters to be alive at this point.

I have mixed feelings about it too

like, I mourned him real bad and I was sobbing in the last 15 minutes of the finale. and now they just "guess who didn't get murdered after all". I mean it's great but it kinda feels like cheating

I guess he had to be alive in order to get the Byers back to town.

It's definitely a bit disappointing that they are going there, even if they heavily implied he was alive at the end, so it's not really surprising. They've already pulled this with El at the end of season 1, so they are repeating themselves and it's a bit of a lazy trope but it is what it is.

True that.. I forget about that ending in S1..
