I'm almost through season one and oy---I don't know. I get that this is a soap but boy can it be heavy handed sometimes. They like to talk a lot about how women are second class citizens when sometimes the actions are enough that it doesn't need to be said explicitly.

And these people are kind of annoying. Why doesn't Lidia just tell Francisco what the heck is going on since he seems clearly willing to help?

Lol, season 1 annoyed me a lot when I first started watching it, because I wasn't expecting a soap. Once I accepted that was what it actually was, I started to have fun with it, specially the over dramatic stuff

Ha. I read that before starting. I was ready for soap but I think the show isn't doing enough to make me understand why characters are being so cagey.

I mean, there's no attempt at discretion. Kissing in offices with windows. Women kissing in a restaurant in front of a mirror that would reflect it to everyone?

You haven't watched many Spanish soaps, have you?

I've been watching Gran Hotel, and it's amazing how the main character, who is supposed to be a waiter, is NEVER working, sometimes he's not even AT the workplace, he's just like I-gotta-go and LEAVES and no one ever seems to notice

There's another plot where a couple is hiding a newborn under the bed. UNDER A HOTEL BED, yes! You have to just go with it

Ha. I gave up on Gran Hotel after the first season. But with that one, it wasn't the contrivances (I can totally forgive not seeing them work on the show) but rather that I rooted for the "bad" guy and thought the "good" couple was kinda bland. And that's it too--none of the couples intrigue me.
