I started watching it with my brother-in-law on New Year's Eve but I got sleepy half way through and went to bed and never caught up.

I watched it in three parts I have a lot of questions about the worldbuilding and I fear I'll never get the answer.

So.. did you guys not like it?

Though that shouldn't stop people from liking the movie, just because they don't like the guy behind it. I don't like some guys behind movies/shows (who shall not be named), but I do like their projects. __________________

I liked it but with fantasy films I like things to be explained or have some kind of lore behind it, especially with urban fantasy. Like there were hints of backstory and I was kind of more interested in hearing more about that than all the action that was going on in the present, you know?

Addressing basically what bugged me. How can everything be the same if they've been part of our world all along. Give me back story or something. __________________

Your first choice for prestige television and last choice for movies.

Yeah.
I agree with the points they make, esp. that it seems a bit ridiculous to create a whole new world with magic creatures and such and then it's all the same, same stereotypes, same cultural references. I'm always wary of movies that speak on racism in a metaphorical way because there are plenty of stories about racism in the today, no need to have orgs as stand ins for black people, etc. All in all, I think it was a good concept, just not well developed. __________________

Yeah, definitely. It had a lot of weird choices and I just don't understand how Netflix is so politically aware with their series but then it comes to movies like this and it all just disappears.

Yeah, it's really weird and some of the movies they buy rights for are also not the best.
