They definitely kept it on the show, Nefessa Williams addressed it in an interview:

. That's when I started reading other things. I just never found if in the comics she was a lesbian or bisexual, just that she was romantically connected to a female

I love all the characters, but I think Anissa will be my favorite on the show.
