Nothing against Alan, I adore him, but during that time he had no own storyline because of the play he was in at the same time. So him getting nominated over Matt was like a slap to the face.

What he did with his one big main arc in the whole series, was definitely his best work at that moment in his life. The range of emotion he showed was incredible acting.

I absolutely agree, but The Resident has allowed him to expand on it and I believe he's better as Conrad than he was as Cary, and that's from someone who has been watching him since he was Logan.
