It makes me sad to think about all the abuse that he has endured through the years

Chase and just...wanting Daddy to love and care and be interested. And for a moment, he actually got that.

I think Chase will always hope that one day when his dad wakes up, he'll be a changed man. It's what I like about him as a son. That even though his father continuously hurts him, he has this inkling of hope for him.

It's something I love about Chase as well. I hope it pays off for him in the end that Victor does stop hurting him and starts being the father that Chase deserves.

I also feel like both Janet & Chase tolerate him. He's harmful but he is family so they stick around.

Yeah I think so too. Even though he is abusive neither one seems ready to walk away. I don't understand it at all but they definitely don't want to leave him.

^ that's the biggest thing. From the outside, it seems to logical. But if you're in that position, it's not easy to just leave. Which makes that so realistic. And terribly sad. :'(

True, if you're in their position it's not easy to leave. If you're familiar with the show Big Little Lies, there's also an abusive relationship on the show. The husband is beating the wife but the wife can't seem to leave him.
