Other related threads referring to say... we add a board for Emily Deschanel... appropriate threads would be for example appreciation threads for the actress, the character, shipper threads on the Bones board as well as a thread on Female Celebrities if it exists... most celebrity threads generate lists... and if they do those lists should be used for the one time only PM... and if they have been PMed they should NOT be PMed repeatedly unless they are on the Requests campaign list on THIS board which is generated by contacting supporters and getting them to post on the campaign thread to receive a monthly PM reminding them to vote... Threads are encounraged to start lists for supporters for TV shows and music artists... that way if I get a complaint about unwanted PMs I don't have to search through multiple threads trying to find evidence that that person posted on the thread... only to find out they posted on the thread once per say years ago (which is why it also asks for people who get PMed to join the campaign... to post on the campaign thread to be added to a list)...

Let's say I go to a thread on the Off Topic board and say I love such and such TV show... people should NOT PM me and ask me to join a campaign thread or to vote... as I did NOT post on a related thread.

But if people post on the related threads, and you're just informing them that a campaign has started (one PM) then that's fine, right? Because I really only saw the guidelines saying you can't PM people asking for votes unless they're on a list.

The list asking for votes is the list from the campaign thread only... so if people are PMing for votes for a particular topic then there had better be a list on the campaign thread cause if I receive a complaint and there is no list it'll probably be removed off the polls for not having a list on the campaign thread (where supporters are asked to post to get on a list)... If they post on a thread... yes they can be informed.

A question for you, Johnnie. Is it okay to post in my signature: "Please follow the rules and do not solicit or ask for votes"?? I will have a link to the rules where it says "rules." Thank you for letting me know.

Just back to being active on campaigns and all. Just read it, thanks for the new rules.

Johnnie Just to make things clearer for me, how about mentioning on an appreciation thread that we have a campaign going on and link the campaign thread?

Yes, as long as it follows the standard sig rules for size it's fine.

Yes, on an appreciation thread you can mention the campaign thread... not so much asking to vote directly... getting people to post on a campaign thread can help make it for you can make a list of campaigners (from the posters on the campaign thread on Requests) to PM one time a month to remind them if necessary.

Ok..It could be because its so late and I'm tired, but I just need to clarify something.

On an appreciation thread..with the fancy opening posts most seem to have these days...Is it not ok to mention they can vote for the specific celeb (and give the link) AND/ OR visit the campaign thread. Its not like you a bombarding them and asking them to vote every single time they visit the thread. Its just there..in the opening post..if they care to read it.

does that make sense?

Okay. thanks. Just wanted to make it clear I did okay.

ETA: Sorry, one more thing... how about posters mentioning in appreciation threads that they already had voted. Not asking for others to vote, but they just mentioned they voted? Would that be against the rules, too? If yes, Can I post a reminder on that thread to read the rules and just post on the campaign thread instead? It's never too late, right? I don't want to jeopardize anything.

I suppose saying they voted isn't necessarily against the rules in an appreciation thread. A link shouldn't be in the opening post to the vote thread, the only thing that should be linked to is the campaign thread on the Requests board if one exists...

But yeah, people should use the campaign thread to say that they voted... that way if people want to come up with a list to PM people they can because the people posted on the campaign thread.

I've got a question that I didn't see answered but it's possible I missed it while I skimmed through.

I know of a new series, To Love and Die, that got picked up for sometime this spring. Well, that was the plan before the strike so it's kinda up in the air. Anyway, when can I start petitioning for a board for it? Once the air date is announced? I want to do it as soon as possible.
