Request Guidelines (Please Read or Risk Getting Removed Off The Polls)

******** RULES FOR FAN FORUM REQUESTS ********

Rules are subject to being changed from time to time, checking back here every so often can keep you informed.

1) VERY IMPORTANT - Only vote for a board if YOU plan on posting on the suggested board on a regular basis.

* It is illegal to:
a) Trade votes
b) Get your friends to vote who would not normally post on the board
c) Use multiple accounts to vote

* Campaign Rules:
a) Do not ask for votes on other topics or start threads simply asking for votes. You can post on related threads asking people to join the campaign thread. Don't blatantly take over a thread which isn't a campaign thread for purposes of campaigning.
b) Do not discuss, ask for votes, or link to campaigns on other campaigns even if they may be related (ie celeb on TV show)
c) Do not ask for votes on other sites such as Livejournal, myspace, and other sites.
d) PM’s reminding/asking people to vote may ONLY be sent out to posters whose names are on an Appreciation/Support List that's located in the campaign thread on this forum. The posters’ names MUST be on this list to receive these PM reminders/requests to vote.
This list can be generated by the following methods:
1) Posters posting on the campaign thread and/or asking there to join the list.
2) Campaign organizers can ONE TIME ONLY PM posters on appropriate appreciation, support, and other related threads elsewhere on Fan Forum asking them if they'd like to join the campaign (by posting on the thread via #1), and have their names added to the Appreciation/Support List on the Campaign thread on the Requests forum, and receive monthly reminders about votes. A separate list of people who have been contacted and who have responded that they prefer not to be PM'd should be maintained since continuing to PM these people would be considered spam and basis for disqualification.
d) You can NOT randomly PM posters, regardless of whether they are posters on the appropriate threads/boards or not, just asking for votes each month. ALL PMS that are sent must be directed at posters whose names are on the new campaign thread lists.

* Failure to Follow the Rules: Failure to follow the rules may result in votes being removed from the polls, the polls being reset, or the board request being removed from the polls for the month in question.

2) Please do not submit moderator applications for forums that haven't been added yet. Any applications for non-existing forums will be deleted.

3) If you're going to post campaign images, please keep the size to a minimum. Buttons and 480 X 60 banners are fine, but large images that take up half the screen are not allowed and will be removed. Please be considerate of other posters when posting banners, and don't post the banners on every thread you post on. Please use these banners moderately, or a notice will be sent to you and then they will be removed. Campaign avatars should only be posted on the campaign threads here since that's what they relate to.

4) Requests are added based on poll number results. Generally 2 boards a month [2 is the maximum]. In order to have a board, the winning boards need to have at least 100 votes and be in seperate polls. All boards submitted must fit into one of the three poll categories. The top 2 winners of the 3 poll categories (from different categories) will get a board if they are over the required 100 minimum. New Upcoming TV Show boards can be added apart from the Requests system, usually once a year.

5) Any new board will be subject to the same minimum posting requirements that currently existing boards must adhere to, and if the new board doesn't meet the minimum posting requirements after a reasonable period of time to build traffic it will be closed.

6) Prior to submitting a board we ask that you have at least 500 posts beforehand. You also need more than 50 posts to vote for a Request. Once a request is submitted it cannot be changed to something else or another request added which is why editing is off on this board. You are limited to requesting one board per submission thread. You should have at least 500 posts before starting a campaign thread.

7) Polls will be limited to 25 requests per category. If the submission thread is full before the end of the allotted time it will be closed early.

8) Campaign threads will be allowed for all entertainment related requests, regardless of whether the request is currently in the polls. Please check the guide thread for an existing thread before starting a new thread. Feel free to ask on the guide if a campaign exists, as it may not be fully up to date. Campaign threads are not allowed on other boards.

9) Unlike other boards, Campaign threads here remain open until the board is opened for the request in question to keep the campaigning in one spot even if it exceeds 300 posts which is the closing point on other boards. The only threads that regularly get new threads are polls, submission threads, and threads such as Off Topic which aren't campaign threads.

10) It's fine for campaigners to discuss possible thread ideas, but people can't 'claim' threads to start when the board opens. Anyone is free to start a thread when it's time to do so.

11) Do not publicly complain if a board request has been taken off the polls.

FAQ: Why is a certain request on the submission thread and polls a different colour than the other options?

Polls and submissions whereby the option is in a different colour (pink currently) instead of the standard colour is to display that the Request has had a board here in the past which was closed.

FAQ: Why do the poll links at the top of the page go to a page that I don't have access to?

It should be noted that the Forum Links on the top of all the pages forward to the current polls and submission threads, however since we are on a Dual Server the poll links will not update right away for everybody and can take up to a day to get in sync with the other server (much like an avatar usually takes at least an hour for everyone else to see) to visit the new polls and submission threads before it updates just visit the Requests board via the drop down menu in the meantime. Basically, when you are directed to that page it means it's still going to the old poll which has been moved to a private forum to avoid confusion.

FAQ: The Special Requests thread... What is done with those requests?

Requests on these threads will be discussed on the Management Team board and the appropriate ones will be added to a twice a year poll (January/June) and the winner will be added to Fan Forum (though it too must have at least 100 votes) at the end of the month.

FAQ: What are examples of allowed threads to one time PM to ask to join campaign?

Shipper threads, Appreciation threads, and Character threads.

FAQ: Why did x submission lose x amount of votes suddenly?

Duplicates are checked at certain times of the month... not a set schedule... so sometimes many duplicates will be discovered at once... it doesn't mean that some kind of error happened and the poll messed up because that's unlikely to happen. If something loses votes it's most likely because duplicate accounts were removed from the vote counter and banned.

FAQ: Why did x submission get disqualified?

Each situation is unique... Some examples...:
a) Person spamming is a main campaigner [Usually doesn't help the situation]
b) Spam was posted on a thread with a lot of posters who would see the spam [Instant Removal]
c) Spam was posted on a thread with few posters, caught early, no new posts afterwords [Warning, (see a) If it was a main campaigner next time would be definate removal]
d) Spam PM asking for votes [Instant Removal]
e) Mass spamming slow threads (whether it be a bunch in one thread, or a bunch scattered in many. [Instant Removal]

As always each situation is unique. I don't need to be PMed each time questioning why decisions are made especially if specific rules are quoted for reason... just because a submission is getting lots of votes doesn't mean it's through cheating. As in c it's very unlikely to have caused much damage if one or all 3 of those conditions are on a factor for a warning. As always each situation is unique and if it looks like someone was trying to deliberately get a request disqualified or if it's an account with few posts spamming, it'll be taken into consideration.

Instant Removal can be either as stated above in the Failure to Follow the Rules section.

FAQ: What happens after a request is disqualified?

From now on, any request that gets removed from the poll will have the thread closed for about 24 hours, after which time the thread reopens it should get back on with the campaigning rather than discussing negativity and why it was removed.

FAQ: I submitted a Request but it's not on the poll? Why is that?

You may have had less than 500 posts when you submitted it, the request may have been on the then current poll and got 10 or less votes- thus becoming ineligible, the campaign thread might be too inactive and removed because of that, or the board may not be on the list because it got enough votes on the then current poll and was added.

FAQ: Is there a board guide?

The current one is here. The old one is here.

FAQ: I've seen people asking for others to vote on various threads... How do I report them?

Send me a PM with links to the posts in question... and if possible with the links and screenshots... that way if the post is edited I'll know what was there. If serious enough the request could be removed from the polls...

A template may come eventually for submitting to make it easier.

FAQ: I want to let related threads know about the campaign thread on Requests do you have a general template I can use to ask people to join the campaign?

Quote:
Hello! We've noticed that you're a potential fan of (tv show/music artist/celebrity here) and we'd like to let you know that there is a campaign thread link here for this (tv show/music artist/celebrity) here. If you wish to join the campaign, please comment on the campaign thread so we can add you to the support list and send you monthly reminders when it comes time to vote.

Thanks!

P.S.: If you would prefer not to receive reminder PM's, please let us know, and we're sorry to have bothered you. We will make note not to contact you again. Thanks!
Please contact me with any further questions via PM or by posting on this thread.

Johnnie - Does this one time pm include being allowed to pm those that are on supporter lists on Shipper threads?
