| Oasis Campaign Thread: 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' for Oasis & vote them a board!   Oasis are an award winning, grammy nominated English rock band, formed in Manchester in 1991. Led by lead guitarist and principal songwriter Noel Gallagher and his younger brother, vocalist and songwriter Liam Gallagher, they are one of the most successful and prominent English music bands to emerge during the 1990s Britpop movement with over 70 million in album sales worldwide and 8 number-one singles, as well as 10 million albums sold in The United States alone. The Gallagher brothers are the only remaining original band members. The present line-up is completed by Gem Archer (rhythm/lead guitar and songwriting) and Andy Bell (bass guitar and songwriting). With the success of their critically acclaimed debut album Definitely Maybe and its 20 million selling follow-up, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?; coupled with a rivalry with contemporary band Blur, Oasis became one of the most successful and prominent English bands of the mid-90s and one of the leaders of the Britpop movement. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspaper stories, and cultivated a reputation as both bad boys and a band of the people. At the height of their fame, their 1997 third album Be Here Now reached #1 in the charts and also became the fastest-selling album in chart history, with almost half a million copies sold on the first day alone. Oasis have managed to outlast many of their Britpop contemporaries, over a decade after they appeared on the scene.  The band has released six studio albums and are putting the finishing touches on the seventh which is set to be released this fall. The first single The Shock of the Lightning has a scheduled release date of September 29th. The album which is titled Dig Out Your Soul will be released a few days later on October 6th. These dates coincide with the start of their newest Canadian tour. They have several dates scheduled for Canada in late September and early October, and one date scheduled for Seattle. They have also just announced three tour dates in Mexico for November. In addition to their studio albums, they have also released a compilation of their b-sides, a live album, a DVD on the tenth annivesary of the release of their first album, Definitely Maybe, that chronicles the band's rise to fame, and several DVDs of live shows. | Welcome everyone¡  some good news: Oasis claimed the top three positions in a poll of the best British songs of all time. Live Forever came in at No 1, followed by Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger. A fourth Oasis song, Champagne Supernova, also made it into the top 10 in the poll voted for by several thousand Xfm listeners. Paul Jackson, group programming director for The Xfm Network said: "Oasis undoubtedly has one of the most significant catalogues of all time."
