Miranda Lambert Campaign Thread ~ Because we could always use more like her

miranda.
She was born on November 10, 1983, a native of Lindale, Texas. Miranda's dad, Rick, was the one that taught her to play the guitar when she came home sick of the pop-country songs she was given in a demo recording session; she set out to write her own. Lambert first found fame on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, finishing third place in the competition. A result she has described as a blessing. “I was hoping not to win,” she once said. “The winner had to go in right after the contest and make a record in a couple of weeks, and I wasn’t ready.” Instead, she got the best of both worlds – Columbia Nashville signed her to a deal, but she had the time and opportunity to make the album that she really wanted to make.

Miranda proved to be more than karaoke competition singer with Kerosene, where her confidence and firepower were evident. It debuted at number one on the country charts, and went on to earn Lambert nominations for the CMA’s Horizon Award and the ACM’s Top New Female Vocalist Award (which she won). It also earned her a Grammy nomination. The album since then, has been certified platinum and produced four top 40 singles on the country charts. Most impressive, though, was the fact that Lambert, still a teenager, had written or co-written eleven of Kerosene’s twelve songs, which had the authentic feel of old-school, take-no-prisoners country music.

The follow up album “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” proved that her early success was not just a fluke. The songs reveal a blossoming songwriter whose gifts continue to expand, as well as a singer with impeccable taste in material. Miranda again wrote or co-wrote the bulk of the album’s songs – eight of the eleven tracks As of April 4, 2009 the album has almost reached platinum status selling over 700,000 copies and had put out 4 top 50 tracks. Rolling Stone gave the album the 27th spot on their list of top 50 album of 2007 and the title track came in at number 28 on the RS list of top 100 best songs of 2007. “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” also won Album of the Year at the 2008 ACM awards.

Despite her accomplishments, Miranda is still considered very underrated by many. Some say it's due to her tough girl attitude or the fact that she still has a country twang in her voice. But praises have also come her way for keeping her style more traditional.

“I’m usually the girl who won’t take any crap, but that’s not realistic all the time.” The results illustrate the depth of a genuine artist, and point to Miranda Lambert’s true potential as a career artist – the kind everyone thinks the music industry doesn’t make anymore.

Some might be able to belt out with their vocal skills, some can crank out beautiful lyrics, and others can rock on on the guitar, but there aren't too many who can do all three things, and do them well. She’s laying all of her cards on the table, and she’s got one hell of a winning hand.

Add me please? :D I love her!

dreamingoutloud 04-16-2009 08:38 AM

added :) I would've put you name but I don't recall it, and I've been to the Julianne thread before

but glad to have another Miranda fan here!

then you must kiss me 04-16-2009 01:07 PM

add me please! I've loved Ran since Kerosene. I wasn't a NS watcher. I saw her in concert a couple years ago, when Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was still her new song. She opened for Dierksy.

The OP looks lovely, Tay! And thanks for adding me already :P

then you must kiss me 04-16-2009 02:00 PM

hehe, did you think I'd not show up?

ponders

I think I have a couple Miranda arts...

dreamingoutloud 04-16-2009 02:52 PM

Added you Ellie :). Post the arts if you have em!

&& of course Christy, you did make the banner :P

Woo this thread is actually moving some!

I didn't watch NS either, but started following her music casual afterwards. So what do you all think of Dead Flowers? I just heard the HQ version on her youtube the other day. Liked it better than the ACM version cause there were actual lyrics to look at

then you must kiss me 04-16-2009 03:10 PM

I think it's sad she was a third placer and the only real success story. means she's got talent.

Dead Flowers was nice. I think I'll like it better when it's a studio version.

here's a wallie I did once upon a time

Dead Flowers:

I'll add that to the OP, it's gorgeous!

then you must kiss me 04-16-2009 03:21 PM

gah, I love Miranda's voice. it's so different and distinguishing. and I definitely like that version more. Miranda's amazing live, sure, but the sound quality just isn't the same.

I also have this banner I did with a tutorial, so...
http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...ng_me_down.png

I have tons of HQ Miranda pictures though, so hopefully I'll will myself to get creative again soon.

dreamingoutloud 04-16-2009 03:24 PM

I hope you get creative cause these arts are great! && I agree I love her voice, you really can tell it's hers. I actually think she can perform live very well. More Like Her was probably one of the best I've heard her sing live.

So do you all want to submit her into next month's polls to test the waters and see how many fans there actually are?

I was going to tell you about it if you didn't show up :P

I don't even remember where I first heard Miranda... must've been on country radio, I'm sure  I'm pretty sure Kerosene was the first song I heard, and I fell in love. I love her voice so much

And I looove Dead Flowers. I can't freaking wait for May 12th :P

Hmm.. I think it might be better to wait to see how many fans there are first, but

dreamingoutloud 04-16-2009 03:30 PM

I dunno about the polls either. With Taylor we started a thread then submitted her right away getting like 12 votes the first month, but hey, look where she is now .

May 12th is gonna come by very quickly for me! It's good to have something to look forward to towards the end of the school year and Miranda is not a bad choice. Can't wait until September for the album but that's a long long time away.

Anyone else adore "Love Letters", I've been obsessed.

million little stars 04-16-2009 03:35 PM

We'll just have to see what happens, I guess.

Miranda is amazing live, but I'm really excited to hear the studio version of Dead Flowers. And gah, can't wait for her album. Too bad that's really far away :(

YES! I looooove Love Letters. It was one of my first favorites. She has so many great songs on her second album. I sadly have only heard a few from her first album. I really need to go listen to it.

dreamingoutloud 04-16-2009 03:40 PM

Yeah I have her first album but haven't really listened to it all that much.

My very first fav besides G&L was More Like Her, it's the reason I go the album. First thought was like this has to be a single! Then like a year goes by and it finally became one!

I just start singing LL at the most random times, its so memorable

Christy should just go submit her :P
