I feel like they really shifted direction during season 3.

I think Gwen was around each character pretty equally.
Weirdly, I think it might be the scene where Merlin poisons Morgana, if only for the fact that it shows Merlin's true colors. She didn't do anything to him and just did that to her without provocation. I also loved the feast scene in the first season where Arthur saw Morgana. He was total heart eyes for her. How about you? |

Umm I'm guessing you ship Morgana/Arthur?
Since they're siblings, I do not. But they had an interesting dynamic. I'm a Gwen/Arthur shipper. I wonder if Morgana would've turned evil anyway if Merlin hadn't of poisoned her. Cuz wasn't she destined to be evil? Honestly I love any of the comedic type of scenes. But I also love the scene where you see the cute little dragon, Aithusa, come out of the egg. And even though it was incredibly sad, I liked the scene where you saw Lancelot go into the veil, just because it showed truly what he was willing to do. __________________

I blame the writers. They didn't decide to really make them siblings until later, which is why they had romantic undertone during early season one.
And I enjoy Gwen/Arthur! I just think they came out of nowhere, but once they were more solid together the season after they started liking each other, I warmed up to them. There were a lot of things the dragon said were destined and Merlin intended to say "no! that is not going to happen" many times, especially when it came to Uther and keeping him alive. I fully believe if he didn't poison her that she wouldn't have been led that way. Though to be fair, in the beginning, it was more about killing Uther who was a tyrant who had killed thousands of thousands of magic users for no real reason. Oh my gosh, Lancelot. He was such a good man. I was so sad at his ending, even if it made sense. |
