Jen, I'm impressed that you've seen it a second time. What things did you notice this time around?

And yes, there is a book but it's not really a novel. There is a screenplay book that is based on the movie. I haven't bought it yet but I plan to because it really has an amazing cover.

yes well the first time i went with my neighbor, this time i went with my aunt and cousin. and im actually planning on going back again with my neighbor cuz she wants to see it a second time (my 3rd) not sure when yet though.

as for what i picked up, lets see tina was eating that hot dog with mustard in the beginning of the movie and she had mustard on her upper lip for the first half of the movie (i think till she made it back to her apt). and when she was in the elevator at the ministry the goblin guy in the elevator tried to tell about the mustard but she cut him off and told him just to take them to the floor they needed.

and when newt and jacob got into the suitcase in central park they didnt know that tina was going to be there, so what did they think was going to happen to the suitcase under the bridge after they got into it?

they said they captured all the beasts but i never saw them capture the billywig that was flying around.

also at the very end when they let frank(thunderbird) out of the suitcase they left the suitcase wide open for a long time why didnt any other "beasts" sneak out during that time?

OMG, I didn't even notice that mustard on Tina.

Oh good point, they never did catch the Billywig. Though it looks harmless so I think it's okay.

I don't think the other Beasts inside the suitcase can actually go out unless they can fly? And as long as they are distracted or in their habitat, they will behave. Just my guess.

but they kept trying to escape the suitcase earlier in the movie. when the latch kept flipping open. and you could see the claws sticking out ?

you could see newt eyeing the billywig throughout the movie that he wanted to get him, but he never had the right opportunity..

Welcome Gina, you've been added.

Thanks for that Jen! Considering it's a "newish" HP movie since DH2 and the first of 5 installments, those box office numbers don't suck.

My guess is that they were restless (because of travel?) and that's why Newt wanted to leave the Goldstein's and come back inside the suitcase so he can take care of the Beasts as obviously they need his care. By the time the Thunderbird was set free, he already took care of them.

I hope you enjoy it, Britt.

Quote:
• Tina's full name is Porpentina Esther Goldstein.
• Tina Goldstein was born August 19, 1901. This makes her 25 years old at the time of the first movie, and around four years younger than Newt Scamander, who was born sometime in 1897. The ID card was created by graphic designers of the film series MinaLima, with information they received directly from J.K. Rowling.
• Tina and Queenie Goldstein are half-bloods. J.K. Rowling noted on Twitter a while ago that they are distantly related to Hogwarts Ravenclaw student Anthony Goldstein (many generations down), so their non-magical side could be through their mother. This is also rather surprising given the lack of tolerance between the American wizarding and No-Maj communities.
• Tina's height is listed as 5' 8", though Katherine Waterston, who plays her on-screen, is much taller (nearly six feet tall). She also apparently has no distinguishing marks.
• Tina and Queenie's NY address is not really on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, at 679 W 24th St. (that's more near the Chelsea section of Manhattan).

Wow, I wasn't expecting the movie to be in any Oscar shortlist, tbh, so that's great.

Quote:
  • “NEWT My philosophy is that worrying means you suffer twice.”
  • “The Niffler, a small, furry black cross between a mole and a duck-billed platypus.”
  • “No. A guide to help people understand why we should be protecting these creatures instead of killing them.”
  • “Its sight operates on probability, so it can foresee the most likely immediate future.”
  • “Young wizards and witches sometimes tried to suppress their magic to avoid persecution. Instead of learning to harness or to control their powers, they developed what was called an Obscurus.”
  • “He puts on an earnest, trustworthy expression as, from his pocket, he produces a chain bearing the symbol of the Deathly Hallows.”
  • “MARY LOU Are you a seeker? A seeker after truth? A beat. NEWT I’m more of a chaser, really.”
  • “To expose wizardkind. To provoke war between the magical and non-magical worlds.”
  • “Slowly the Thunderbird calms itself, lowering down to stand on a large rock in front of Newt. As it does, the rain dies down and is replaced by a brilliant, hot sunshine.”
  • “She reads his mind and her expression changes to one of wonderment and tenderness as she sees what he went through in the war. Queenie is moved and appalled. Very slowly, she raises a hand and touches his cheek.”
