Aidan Turner is not a good enough motivator?

ice choco 04-19-2017 10:39 AM

I tried multiple times to watch the first ep, but I just.. I couldn't get through it.
I didn't really know much about Aidan Turner. I could try watching more eps than just the first one. Maybe I can get more into it as I get further down the line?

pookiepookie 04-19-2017 11:31 PM

lol I watched the US version of the pilot and ended up binging a couple of epsiodes, Tried watching the UK version after that and couldn't get through the Pilot for more than 2 minutes.

wickedrum 04-20-2017 05:30 AM

maybe cause you guys started with the US one. It probably works better the other way round.

Also, it helps if you like Aidan Turner from Poldark or The Hobbit. Do you know the US version's main character was named after him?

ice choco 04-20-2017 08:08 AM

^ I do know him from The Hobbit :P He was amazing in there. And nope I didn't know that, but it did interest me that they had the same names.
And actually, I started to try the UK version before I watched the US one. But since I couldn't watch more, I just went with the US one.

But knowing the UK version throughout the whole thing, would be better. Does it have the same ending as the US one?

I think I got more further than 2 mins, cuz I was really trying to get into it. I think i got to like.. 10 - 15 mins or so.

wickedrum 04-20-2017 11:14 AM

Not at all. Unfortunately they could not have a proper ending cause Aidan left to film that very Hobbit trilogy :hammer_head:

Being Human UK does have a very British feel to it, I'm sometimes surprised actually any non-British person can get into it

ice choco 04-20-2017 12:03 PM

Oh so it is a worse ending... or..?

Well the British feel isn't really what bothered me :P I can get into things that are out of my country. Doctor Who was good.

wickedrum 04-20-2017 02:00 PM

non-ending, really. After Aidan left, the rest of the cast trickled away too and the whole thing just fell apart.

fall into your smile 04-25-2017 11:50 AM

I could only ever get into the US version.

ice choco 04-25-2017 12:12 PM

^ I'm the same.
I do love Aidan Turner though from the other things I saw him in (I still didn't know much about him though). And I'm not sure if I've seen the actress who plays Annie in anything, but I liked her from what I saw of her.

But I'm gonna try to force myself to watch the UK one. Even if I prefer the US one.

fall into your smile 04-26-2017 01:50 PM

I couldn't force myself I watch anything. Either I'm interested in it or I'm not.

ice choco 04-26-2017 01:53 PM

:lmao:
I'm the same. But I feel like I'm missing part of this.. if I don't even know what the UK one is like. Cuz it seems quite different.

wickedrum 04-27-2017 02:03 AM

the tone and setting is different, the storyline is the same, at least the first season or so. And let's not forget, the UK one was first, it's what the other one is based on.

Both have their own merits I think and I'm open to discussing both

fall into your smile 04-27-2017 11:11 AM

Yeah, I know the UK version was first but for some reaso. It just doesn't excite me like the US version does.

ice choco 04-27-2017 11:47 AM

I think it's the storyline.. since it's a little different. And I don't really know the actors that play in it. Aidan Turner I know a little, but for the most part I don't know them.
I do, however, know all the actors who play in the US one, and for some reason the US version seemed more interesting to me. It's not because I'm from the US, but just because it just was better IMO. I loved the characters, actors, storylines, setting.. pretty much everything. And the storyline from the US one might be based on the UK one, but there's some little differences from what I saw of it. :P

But each person has their own preferences :) So it's okay.
