To be honest I didn't pay any attention to Beyond before it opened because I wasn't a big fan of the first two movies in this reboot. I really regret that now because I missed all the interviews and the tie-ins and stuff. I just discovered this trailer, and I think it's so great I wanted to share. Some people in the comments were criticizing the song, but having seen the movie and heard it over the end credits, I think it's spectacular! The song is haunting, which totally fits with Kirk's dilemma about living in his dad's shadow and questioning whether he wants to remain in space. And that shot of him in the escape pod watching as the Enterprise crashes! Ugh it's so emotional! Anyway, I don't know how I'd have felt if I'd seen the trailer before the movie. I'm not a huge Rihanna fan but I still think I would've loved it. Even though it's not the normal type of orchestral music used for ST, the song isn't a typical pop song. I love it.
