Linda, I do think time was different.

To him, it probably only felt like a couple of days or weeks.

I didn't read the book, but I think one of the characters says so in the movie, that either time stops when you're in the dark place he was in, or it makes you feel like it has. Maybe the guy with the red eyes said it? Hmm, I need to rewatch this asap!
